Tough Mare Fights Off Challengers to gain Claiming honors

Claimer of the Week at AGameofSkill.comChile Tequila was in a fight almost every step of her journey in capturing the second race at Turfway Park Saturday afternoon and has been named the Claimer of the Week. The seven year old mare led almost the entire way in the mile contest and eventually prevailed by a half length. The $5,000 claiming event for non winners of two races in six months had eight runners go to post with 51 wins between them. Chile Tequila completed the mile in 1:45:50 and returned $4.40 to her backers. Ridden by Albin Jimenez, the daughter of Cactus Ridge notched her 13th career win out of 63 starts. Owned and trained by Jerry Balo, Chile Tequila has finished in the money 29 times with a career bankroll exceeding $90,000.
