Race 11: #11 Jumbo Treasure, #6 Turquoise Velocity, #3 Ka Ying Attack, #2 Rising Force

Race 1 – HUNG SHUI KIU HANDICAP
#7 Wave Garden won comfortably at the track and trip last start on his first run for an in-form Michael Chang yard, drawing clear by more than a length while nothing behind him was making much ground. On that evidence, he is the one they all have to beat again. #4 Jolly Companion draws awkwardly in barrier 11, but Purton taking over is a positive and his trial between runs was a clear step forward, winning his heat well. #3 So My Folks comes through the same race as Wave Garden and had excuses after being steadied at the top of the straight. He did not get the cleanest trip, and Jerry Chau from barrier 2 gives him a much better set-up today. #11 Gimme Five will have to work harder early from barrier 10 if he presses forward, but Nichola Yuen stays aboard after the pair stuck on well for second behind Wave Garden last start.

Race 2 – KAM TIN HANDICAP
#1 Sunny Q may find 1,000m a touch sharp, but on class he is well placed for a race of this nature. Jerry Chau taking over is a positive, and a Class 5 win is close. #2 Autumn Vibes gets his chance at his first look down the straight after another encouraging run last start, racing wide from the 600m yet going down by only a neck. Barrier 10 gives him a better trip today. #8 Diriya produced one of his better efforts first-up over 1,000m at Happy Valley, making good late ground into fifth despite striking traffic. He looks to be coming to hand in this grade. #14 Island Breezes has not seen a favourable gate for some time and now resumes for Ricky Yiu after a stable switch. A better draw gives him a better set-up and makes him an intriguing runner.

Race 3 – LAM TEI HANDICAP
#2 Call Me Sparkle gets a good chance to turn things around for a Francis Lui stable that has been finishing close up without converting. First-time blinkers are the key change, he has trialled well in them and barrier 2 gives Jimmy Orman every chance. #4 Mighty Profit looks like a nice horse in the making and clearly has an engine, even if he is still doing plenty wrong. Expect him to be strong late. #1 Crossborderdude has shown plenty of ability with a win and six placings from nine starts, and he remains more than capable in this company. He was only a three-year-old last season, so there should still be improvement to come. #8 Little Monster has barrier 10 to overcome, but his second-up second keeps him firmly in the mix and Derek Leung going back on is a positive.

Race 4 – LAU FAU SHAN HANDICAP
#2 Bustling City is hard to take on after a first-up demolition where he ran his rivals ragged from the front, making it two dominant wins from two since switching to the all-weather. He now has to absorb a 22-point rise across those victories, but he is simply flying on the dirt. #3 Mighty Commander gets a welcome draw in barrier 4 after wide gates at his past two starts. He will still be saved for one late run, but the kinder set-up should give him every chance to charge home. #1 Lucy In The Sky backs up quickly for the second straight time this season after winning second-up off the same turnaround. He worked hard early from barrier 12 last week yet still held third, another performance full of merit. #5 Must Go is more than capable on his day and remains an honest Class 3 all-weather sprinter who can work his way into the placings.

Race 5 – MAI PO HANDICAP
#2 Mega Captain resumes after breaking through at his fourth start in mid-June, his second attempt at the track and distance. He clearly relishes the all-weather, Purton sticks aboard and his lead-in trials suggest he has returned in good form. #1 Juicy Dragon is better than his first-up no-show, when barrier 12 left him wide and he never played a part. He has trialled well since, returns to the all-weather and gets a slightly kinder gate to give himself a better chance. #4 Central Bank continues to improve with racing and comes off a fourth in a race of this nature, doing his best work late. Barrier 5 gives him a much better map. #5 Tactical Ace had excuses at his first look in Class 4 last start, racing wide yet sticking on. Barrier 2 is a map upgrade and gives him the chance to show what he can do at this level.

Race 6 – THE POK OI CUP (HANDICAP)
#10 Enjoy Golf gets another chance after being beaten as favourite first-up, when he pulled up with vet excuses and was also unsuited by a race shape that worked against those close to the speed. The run was better than it reads. #1 Stanley Express makes his first start for David Eustace after trialling quietly but nicely for his return. Do not expect him to be ridden as negatively under race conditions, and the class drop helps. #2 Gallant Design has barrier 12 to overcome, but he looks close to a win after building towards one late last season. He will need luck from the draw, but the form says his turn is near. #12 Let’s Have Fun comes off two good runs over 1,000m and should appreciate getting back up in trip, which can bring another step forward.

Race 7 – NAM SANG WAI HANDICAP
#6 Cava Pioneer had a very quiet debut from barrier 10 but there was still plenty of merit in his seventh, and his trials had always hinted at ability. Zac Purton takes over from a better gate today, giving him the chance to map closer. #3 Absolute Awakened won smartly at his second start for David Hayes and gave the impression there is more to come, especially after Hayes said they had got on top of his health issues. Barrier 2 gives him every chance to build on that win. #5 Storm Mirror can be forgiven for his first-up 11th after barrier 13 left him poorly placed throughout. He is better than that, and his subsequent trial supports the case for a rebound. #10 Tin Fook has slid a long way down the ratings and now looks well placed to strike. His return trials have been encouraging and barrier 1 gives him the set-up he needs.

Race 8 – PING SHAN HANDICAP
#11 Gorgeous Victory comes off two forgivable runs from wide draws and finally gets a much kinder set-up in barrier 3. He should map with every chance in a competitive race where several key rivals have also drawn well. #1 Jolly Brilliant has upside after breaking through at start eight in his final run last season, and barrier 2 means he maps well resuming. His trials suggest he has returned in good order. #2 Ace can improve on his first-up sixth, when he lacked room late and was not beaten far. He has since trialled strongly and the step up to a mile is a positive. #13 Smart Fat Cat draws widest in barrier 14, which is the knock, but the stable switch to Pierre Ng is an angle worth following and he can still run well despite the gate.

Race 9 – SAN TIN HANDICAP
#3 Happy Index showed good potential last season, winning one from seven despite regularly having wide draws to overcome. He has trialled pleasingly for his return and still looks to have more to give this season. #10 Embrace Aberdeen signed off last term with a second to Mr Incredible, a handy formline for a race like this. He has won two from eight and his return trial suggests he has come back in good order. #8 Megastar Heart only raced three times last season and had wide gates at his first two starts before drawing barrier 2 and striking trouble late when beaten two and a half lengths into fifth. He has since won a trial impressively. #1 Swift Ascend returns from injury but has trialled well.

Race 10 – SHUI PIN WAI HANDICAP
#7 Chiu Chow Spirit has gone 763 days without a win, but he looks ready to strike when things finally fall his way. That has often been the issue, yet his first-up third from barrier 12 was another encouraging effort. #2 Titan Pegasus is a nice horse in the making after producing his best local run yet at the end of last season, flashing home into third from a wide draw at this track and trip at just his third Hong Kong start. Two good lead-in trials suggest there is more to come. #10 Do Your Part gets back to the track and distance where he has generally performed best after fading first-up at Happy Valley, when he led too quickly and was entitled to fade. #9 Celestial Hero catches the eye on the quick back-up after a luckless eighth from last over 1,000m, a trip that looked too short. He is better suited here.

Race 11 – YUEN LONG HANDICAP
#11 Jumbo Treasure takes a leap in grade into a hot Class 2, but he is thriving and gets the right set-up to make his presence felt. Barrier 1, a light weight and the way the race should unfold all work in his favour. #6 Turquoise Velocity ran a game second first-up in a race where the first three in running crossed the line in that exact order. Barrier 4 gives him another ideal map and every chance to be right in the finish again. #3 Ka Ying Attack really hit his straps late last season, stringing together back-to-back wins, and looks a horse still on the rise. His tactical versatility is another asset in a race like this. #2 Rising Force was only fair first-up, but his seventh was better than it reads and he is worth another chance.

Sha Tin Selections for Sunday, September 13, 2026

Luke Middlebrook’s tips from Idol Horse below for Shatin on Sunday, Sep 13, 2026.

Sha Tin Selections for Sunday, September 13, 2026 (late Sat. night in the USA)

Race 1: #10 Rattan Galaxy, #11 Superb Guy, #3 Sea Diamond, #12 Supreme Winner
Race 2: #2 Looking Bright, #8 Ruby Thrive, #3 Charming Babe, #10 E Ho Ho
Race 3: #8 He Was Me, #10 Fortune Kingo, #4 Made For Life, #5 Verbier
Race 4: #11 Mighty Fighter, #12 Enjoy Golf, #3 Bright Mortar, #7 Lucky Doctor
Race 5: #11 Better And Better, #10 Spirited Steed, #2 Kempes, #9 Road To Glory
Race 6: #8 Good Good, #9 Gorgeous Victory, #1 Victor Supreme, #7 Beauty Missile
Race 7: #5 Storm Mirror, #3 Ace, #2 Mega Mastermind, #13 Top To Sky
Race 8: #1 Solid State, #4 Straight To Glory, #13 Lucky Candy, #2 Fast Responder
Race 9: #1 Chill Buddy, #5 Lucy In The Sky, #8 Thunder Kit, #11 Gulu Gogo
Race 10: #12 Nyx Gluck, #14 Flying Knight, #6 Run Run Smart, #1 Sovereign Fund

Race 1 – HONG TUNG HANDICAP
#10 Rattan Galaxy put the writing on the wall last start, beaten narrowly into second after leading at a good clip from barrier 14 and setting the race up for those behind. Barrier 2 is the best draw he has seen in some time and gives him the chance to break through. #11 Superb Guy resumes a further four points lower in the ratings and the first-time Purton booking is meaningful. #3 Sea Diamond is the class-dropper to note at just his second start for Danny Shum, has trialled well for his return and maps on pace with every chance. #12 Supreme Winner has been progressing well in his work, and Jerry Chau taking the ride adds confidence that he is ready to run well fresh.

Race 2 – HING WAH HANDICAP
#2 Looking Bright is still chasing his first local win, but he has gone close more than once, including a narrow second over 1,200m at Happy Valley last time. The return to the straight course suits, and he trialled well alongside Wednesday’s winner Robot Lucky Star, while the lack of obvious speed on paper should play to his profile. #8 Ruby Thrive backs up quickly after finishing second to Lightness Of Music here last week, and Purton taking over is the key change. #3 Charming Babe always warrants respect in this grade, having won two from eight, while two quiet lead-in trials have him primed. #10 E Ho Ho is well down in the ratings now and resumes off a handy trial. Barrier 13 is ideal down the straight and gives him the chance to improve.

The Impact of the Hong Kong International RacesRace 3 – HONG TUNG HANDICAP
#8 He Was Me finished last season in fine form, winning twice from his final five starts, and his trial suggests he has returned ready to pick up where he left off. #10 Fortune Kingo makes his first start for Douglas Whyte after 12 runs for Jimmy Ting and will appreciate finally drawing low. Jerry Chau partnered him in a good-looking recent trial and stays with him on race day, which adds to the appeal. #4 Made For Life is only at his second start in Class 5 and his first look in the grade produced a close-up fourth. Purton taking over is the positive. #5 Verbier backs up quickly and can improve if he gets a cleaner trip without having to do too much early work.

Race 4 – LOK WAH HANDICAP
#11 Mighty Fighter raced only four times last season but showed ability, was never beaten far and signed off with a luckless eighth. His return trial was impressive and, while barrier 11 is no gift, he is likely to be an attractive price and looks the type who can progress this season. #12 Enjoy Golf should jump, lead from barrier 2 and does not appear to face much pressure, giving Britney Wong the chance to take them a long way. #3 Bright Mortar has done his best work on the all-weather, but he is still only a five-start horse who was improving with racing, so the return to turf is not a major concern. #7 Lucky Doctor maps for a good run from barrier 3, has had the right preparation for his return and his trials have been encouraging.

Race 5 – LOK WAH HANDICAP
#11 Better And Better has been costly given how often he has started favourite, seven times for only one win and a third, but his form did lift once the hood and pacifiers went on. His return trial was likeable and he has the ability for this, although barrier 10 leaves him needing early luck. #10 Spirited Steed signed off last season with his best run yet, finishing second, and Purton taking over is the clear positive. His return trial was good enough to suggest he can pick up from there. #2 Kempes won first-up in Class 3 last season before failing to go on with it, but he has shown he can perform fresh. Class 4 for the first time and barrier 3 give him the right set-up. #9 Road To Glory is interesting given he was unwanted on debut but ran an encouraging second.

Race 6 – THE TUNG WAH GROUP OF HOSPITALS CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP)
#8 Good Good is the map horse, poised to lead softly and give them something to catch. #9 Gorgeous Victory keeps Purton in the saddle after the champion jockey partnered him in a couple of runs late last season that had him close to a win. That reads well, and he looks ready to make his mark in the early season. #1 Victor Supreme broke through impressively last start by more than four lengths and does not look done in the ratings yet. The drop back in trip is the query after that win came over 1,800m, but barrier 4 should allow him to map well again. #7 Beauty Missile has taken a clear step forward since joining Brett Crawford, despite having plenty of racing behind him, and two wins late last season give him the platform to measure up again back in class.

Race 7 – MEI TUNG HANDICAP
#5 Storm Mirror has only raced three times but has threatened to win in each of them. The break appears to have brought him on, with two impressive return trials under Purton suggesting he is ready to fire fresh. #3 Ace should get the soft trail just off the speed from barrier 1. His form lifted after switching to Mark Newnham last season, winning two of five for the stable, and he looks to have more in store. #2 Mega Mastermind is the likely leader and has had two trials for his return, the latest a strong piece of work. He can take catching. #13 Top To Sky won back-to-back races at the end of last season after the blinkers went on. He rises from the top of Class 5 into Class 4, but the light weight helps and barrier 3 should have him right there with Mega Mastermind.

Race 8 – WAH FU HANDICAP
#1 Solid State won on debut like a horse going places, although there is always the next-start question of whether he can do it again. Frankie Lor drops him back from 1,200m to 1,000m given he can race keenly, and the tempo will suit. Barrier 14 down the straight looks the perfect draw. #4 Straight To Glory draws alongside in barrier 13 and has proven himself a genuine straight-track horse, with two late-season wins over this course and distance. #13 Lucky Candy comes off five straight placings, including a second to Straight To Glory last start, and can be right there again. #2 Fast Responder is aided by Nichola Yuen’s 10-pound claim after the pair built a good association late last season, combining for a win and a third from three rides.

Race 9 – OI TUNG HANDICAP
#1 Chill Buddy can pick up where he left off after signing off last season with his second Hong Kong win. Barrier 1 suits a horse with good early speed, although he does not have to lead with other pace engaged. #5 Lucy In The Sky attracted solid market support last week, led and only faded late into fourth. Similar tactics look suitable here, especially with Nichola Yuen now taking over and claiming 10 pounds. #8 Thunder Kit will be doing the chasing from barrier 4, looking to build into the race and launch late. His third to Mr Incredible two starts ago reads well for this. #11 Gulu Gogo was sixth on debut last season behind Solid State and has been a notable improver at the trials for his return.

Race 10 – YIU TUNG HANDICAP
#12 Nyx Gluck went bang at his first start for Danny Shum last season, winning impressively and drawing clear with authority. He rises into Class 3 for the first time and meets stronger opposition, but the set-up improves from barrier 1 after he jumped from gate 12 last time. Purton stays aboard, and his trial points to him returning in fine form. #14 Flying Knight really came to hand late last season and his fifth back in Class 3 had merit after a poor trip. Barrier 2 will give him a much cleaner run today and he can bounce back. #6 Run Run Smart will take control from the front, as he likes to do, and his finishing comes down to how cheaply Nichola Yuen can get away with it. On paper, he looks likely to get control. #1 Sovereign Fund is thriving for Brett Crawford and, although the top of Class 3 makes things trickier at the weights, barrier 3 and a nice return trial set him up well.

Race 5: #1 Lunar Dash, #3 Ka Ying Resilience, #10 Green Angel, #2 Hayday

Race 10: #8 Aerovolanic, #5 Smart Avenue, #12 Big Return, #4 Lucky Sam Gor
Race 11: #6 Almighty Lightning, #1 Super Express, #9 Monarch County, #7 Majestic Valour

Race 1 – MIRACULOUS HANDICAP
#4 Golden Fortune has found the right grade since dropping into Class 5, running back-to-back seconds and looking ready to break through. #12 Smart Beauty maps for a good run from barrier 3 and has slid far enough in the ratings to play a part in a weak race. #1 Beauty Missile needs luck from the widest stall, but his form reads well enough for this and he rates a genuine chance if the draw does not undo him. #11 Dragon Sunrise has been costly to follow after finding several races where he has had his chance, but back-to-back thirds keep him in the mix and he can be right there again.

Race 2 – MR AWARD HANDICAP
#11 Speedy Trident gets the right set-up from barrier 3 and his last-start second said he is ready to win, especially after being held up for a good portion of the straight. #7 Double Bingo has been knocking on the door since switching to Ricky Yiu, placing four times from six starts, and Purton staying aboard is a clear positive. #10 Exceed The Wish can make proper use of barrier 1 and map with every chance after a luckless sixth from an outside stall. #9 Draco was narrowly beaten into fourth on stable debut for Cody Mo and the switch to Jerry Chau is meaningful.

Sha Tin Hong Kong horse racingRace 3 – PINGWU SPARK HANDICAP
#13 Flying Sniper gets the map upgrade he needs, coming into barrier 4 after jumping from gate 10 last start, when he settled well back before flashing home into fifth after a chequered passage. #6 Grand Patch is an improving three-year-old who ran his best race yet third-up when placed third, and barrier 2 gives him the right run to keep progressing. #10 Voyage Boss will jump and run from barrier 1 under Nichola Yuen’s 10-pound claim and should give them something to chase. #2 Flash Current is more than capable in this grade and, if the pace is on, he is one who can work into it late.

Race 4 – MEDIC KINGDOM HANDICAP
#2 Rising Phoenix returns to Class 4, where he is much better placed to bounce back after finding Class 3 a stretch too far. He has trialled well since, winning his heat in good style, and looks ready to show up again. #5 Lucky Man pulled up with vet excuses last start and is better than that run. Barrier 1 gives him the right set-up to return to form. #14 Fighting Machine makes his stable debut for Tony Cruz and showed marked improvement in his second trial for the yard. At odds, he has some intrigue. #1 Harold Win has barrier 14 to navigate, but in a race without much early speed, Ethan Brown has the opportunity to slide across and find a spot and give a sight.

Race 5 – BIG PROFIT HANDICAP
#1 Lunar Dash has had three runs for Brett Crawford and all have come from outside stalls. Today he gets the complete set-up change, with barrier 1 and Purton back in the saddle, and he will take beating. #3 Ka Ying Resilience was well supported first-up and duly delivered with a smart win. There should be more to come. #10 Green Angel showed good improvement in a recent trial and could be ready to take that to race day. #2 Hayday will give a good sight under Nichola Yuen’s claim and looks the one they have to reel in.

Race 6 – VICTORY MARVEL HANDICAP
#5 Prime Winister is still doing plenty wrong in his races, but there is clearly something there. Bowman going on helps, a true tempo should also suit and he can take a step forward second-up. #6 Silver Spurs won very well from the front last start and, with a similar run, can be there again. #1 Oldtown has been racing well since the stable switch to Mark Newnham and only needs some early luck from barrier 11 to play his part. #2 Prestige Always should lead under Nichola Yuen if his recent trial is any guide, and he can give them something to run down.

Race 7 – SOLAR HEI HEI HANDICAP
#10 Smart Fat Cat backs up quickly after being well backed into favouritism last week, only for an outside stall to leave him racing wide. Barrier 4 gives him the map upgrade he needs and that looks the key. #3 Packing Fighter has taken a step forward since switching to Danny Shum, although another wide draw makes things awkward again. #4 Vivacious Win is yet to show up at Sha Tin, but he returns in good form after shedding his maiden tag in good style two starts ago before backing it up with a third. #5 Absolute Honour is suited back to the mile after failing to see out 1,800m last time.

Race 8 – THE HONG KONG RACEHORSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION TROPHY (HANDICAP)
#5 Sagacious Life made a nice start for Caspar Fownes when third on stable debut, and the set-up improves again second-up for the yard. Moreira goes on from barrier 2 and he gets every chance to win. #9 Silvery Breeze can settle much closer from barrier 1 after jumping from barrier 10 last start, giving him a decent map upgrade. #4 Soleil Fighter will try to lead throughout again after dictating under cheap sectionals last time. If he gets the same control, he can take catching. #2 Beauty Joy is thriving and maps for another sweet run, giving him every chance to go back-to-back.

Race 9 – JOY AND FUN HANDICAP
#4 Gold Patch is a smart three-year-old who has won three from five this season and looks well placed to keep climbing. He has been freshened since early May, when he worked hard early from barrier 11, and his trial win for this return was encouraging. Purton sticking with him is another strong pointer. #5 Pi Legend won nicely on the all-weather at his stable debut for Brett Crawford and now switches back to turf, which should not be an issue. There looks more to come. #8 Papaya Brose is trending the right way and gets in with less weight as he steps into Class 3. #11 Causeway King can lead from barrier 2 and give a sight, with more measured sectionals likely to improve his chances.

Race 10 – SIGHT WINNER HANDICAP
#8 Aerovolanic was badly held up last start and never had a clear crack at them, so his fifth was better than it reads. The mile is the query, with only one previous run at the trip, but barrier 3 gives him the right run in a competitive race. #5 Smart Avenue is a much better chance back at Sha Tin after a troubled run at Happy Valley, and Purton staying in the saddle is key. #12 Big Return showed he is up to this grade last start, running a nice second to Endued after his Class 4 hat-trick, and the light weight helps. #4 Lucky Sam Gor maps as a winning chance again from barrier 4 after bouncing back to winning ways with a daring Hugh Bowman ride.

Race 11 – ALL YOU WISH HANDICAP
#6 Almighty Lightning chases back-to-back wins and a third victory from six starts this season. He looks a nice three-year-old who has done plenty right, and barrier 1 gives him all the favours after he won going away from barrier 14 last time. #1 Super Express has been consistent all season, with a win and five seconds from seven starts, and this easier contest gives him every chance to be right there again. #9 Monarch County has yet to fire in five Class 3 attempts, but he closed off well behind Almighty Lightning last start and today’s map gives him a better platform. #7 Majestic Valour gets Purton back in the saddle and the tongue-tie goes on, two changes that make him worth keeping safe.

Race 10: #6 The Unique Star, #5 Endeared, #8 Chill Easy, #13 Exceed The Limit
Race 11: #4 Uranus Star, #14 Tin Fook, #1 Everyone’s Star, #2 Aerovolanic

Race 1 – BUFFALO HILL HANDICAP
#8 All Are Mine finally lands a soft draw in barrier 4 for the first time this season since joining the Brett Crawford stable, and he looks on track to go two better after a close-up third last time with Purton remaining in the saddle. #6 On The Lash switches back to a proven track and distance following an excusable last-start 13th, when he raced wide, and he maps to lead comfortably from barrier 3 under Nichola Yuen’s 10-pound claim. #4 Special Hedge ticks boxes down in grade, where he is one from two in Class 5, while he maps for a sweet run from barrier 2 at a track and trip where he has won twice from six attempts. #5 Family Fortune needs luck from the widest draw, but recent form of a win and a third at this distance keeps him in the conversation.

Race 2 – CHEUNG SHAN HANDICAP
#14 Lahore resumes off a bleed and has trialled twice for his return, both quiet but encouraging pieces of work. Purton is back in the saddle from barrier 9 and he maps for a good run from there in a fiercely competitive race. #1 Run Run Sunrise gets in nicely at the weights under Nichola Yuen’s 10lb claim. The three-year-old has only missed the placings once in five starts and it is hard to see him not playing a part in the finish again. #10 Bustling City is on the seven-day back-up after placing third here, a set-up under which David Hayes’ runners generally perform well. He has also drawn ideally in gate 13 for the straight course. #3 Cloud Nine had to work hard to find the lead from barrier 12 over 1,200m on the all-weather last start and felt the pinch late, holding fourth. He gets a kinder run from barrier 10 today.

Race 3 – EAGLE’S NEST HANDICAP
#11 Double Bingo maps to get a sweet run off a good tempo likely set up by the two apprentice-ridden leaders, and he backs up quickly from Wednesday night after not having an ideal trip. His form has been good since joining the Ricky Yiu yard and he is knocking on the door. #1 Always Fluke maps far kinder from barrier 4 today than he did from barrier 12 last start, when he was posted wide throughout. #5 No Other Choice generally performs better on the all-weather, but from barrier 1 his chances look strong under Moreira. #2 Ruby Sailing should roll forward under Britney Wong from barrier 7 and give a good sight now back into Class 5 off a good trial win.

Race 4 – LUK WU HANDICAP
#1 Papaya Brose resumes and has trialled well for his return. He has shown ability in two starts, winning on debut over 1,200m before stepping to 1,400m second-up, where he got back and ran on well for third. He looks ready to bounce back to winning form. #4 Navas G turned in a promising debut third at this track and trip and can only improve from that experience. #10 Better And Better backed up his maiden win two starts ago with another good run, storming late into second after getting too far back from barrier 8. #8 Mighty Fighter should enjoy a good run from barrier 3 third-up today after an encouraging fifth at Happy Valley from barrier 11. It was a clear step forward on his debut effort and he looks a horse on the improve.

Race 5 – LUK WU HANDICAP
#7 Superb Spirit draws much better in barrier 4 today than he did on debut, when he jumped fairly from barrier 10 but still turned in a promising run into fourth. He has since trialled well, winning his heat comfortably, and can take a power of beating second-up. #3 Lucrative Eight has placed in both starts so far and is doing everything right. He maps for a good run somewhere just off what looks a genuine speed, giving himself every chance. #1 Anode has been disappointing but drops into Class 4 for the first time, draws barrier 1 and comes off an encouraging trial. #5 Incredible Moment won under a smart ride last start, but the race shape looks different today. Still, he puts himself on speed and gives himself every chance to be in the finish again.

Race 6 – THE HONG KONG LIONS CUP (HANDICAP)
#10 Thunder Kit put the writing on the wall last start with a fast-finishing second to Geneva, which looks the formline to follow here. That was his second placing from five local starts and shows he is trending the right way. #1 Savvy Brilliant comes out of the same race, where he was unwanted in betting but outperformed market expectations with a seventh that was better than it reads, as he never got clear room late and was not beaten far. #2 Celestial Hero was wide throughout in that race but was not far away in sixth, a fair effort considering the trip, and a better run looks likely today from barrier 3. #3 Lifeline Express is still chasing a win this season, but recent runs suggest he is on the cusp. Barrier 2 sets him up for a sweet run.

Race 7 – LUNG FU SHAN HANDICAP
#2 Forza Toro ran a huge race into second last start after missing the jump and conceding more than eight lengths to the leader in running. He has since trialled twice and been slow to begin in each, so that remains the query, but, on form, he is ready to break through. #1 Run Run Smart should give a good sight under Nichola Yuen’s 10lb claim in a race without much speed on paper. His trial win between runs was good and he maps to get every chance. #12 Ninja Derby has been a big improver since joining the Brett Crawford stable, winning two from five. Class 4 is another test, but from barrier 2, he can also map softly on pace with early intent, and the light weight gives him his chance. #4 Solid Car ran on well over 1,200m first-up to finish third, his third placing from six Class 4 starts, and he is on track for a win.

Race 8 – PORT SHELTER HANDICAP
#5 Absolute Honour has been a stable-switch success for Frankie Lor, but his next test comes today as he steps to 1,800m. He maps for every chance under Purton and still looks well treated off his current mark. #8 Grand Turbo ran his best race yet last start when flashing late into fourth at a big price, although the soft track that day may have flattered him. Barrier 1 ensures a good trip today and gives him the chance to build on that effort. #4 Vermilion Tempest is nearing a win, as seen last start when collared late into second. Moreira back in the saddle helps. #1 Packing Fighter needs luck from barrier 14, but seeing Class 4 for the first time is a big tick for an improving four-year-old, while his lead-in trial was full of promise.

Race 9 – LUNG FU SHAN HANDICAP
#4 Strathpeffer draws an outside gate for the fourth straight time, but to his advantage there does not appear to be much speed on paper. That should allow Ethan Brown to take a forward spot easily enough and give himself the best chance to control the tempo. #11 Ace won impressively two starts ago at his first run for Mark Newnham and backed it up with another good run into fourth from barrier 13 back in Class 4. He draws better today, which can see him back in the finish. #7 Proud Box won convincingly by three lengths last start when going straight to the front and not giving his rivals a look in. #14 Silver Up is an intriguing stable switch to Brett Crawford. He is well rated now, his trials have been good and from barrier 4 he maps kindly with a light weight.

Race 10 – SIU MA SHAN HANDICAP
#6 The Unique Star has drawn poorly in both 1,200m runs and has not had the best of trips as a result. The step to 1,400m is a fresh move, but the manner of his trial win between runs was very likeable and he looks ready to strike. #5 Endeared does more of his winning in Class 4 than Class 3, but he keeps being rewarded for consistency, arriving off three straight placings since moving back up in grade. #8 Chill Easy comes off his best run yet when third to Sky Jewellery, and that has him trending the right way now. He also looks to map well on pace in a race without much pressure. #13 Exceed The Limit can be forgiven for his last start on rain-affected ground. Before that, he closed well from a wide draw into eighth and was not far off Sky Jewellery.

Race 11 – SIU MA SHAN HANDICAP
#4 Uranus Star has been dealt a series of wide draws in his last four runs, which has meant he has had to work early to find the front. Last start, he jumped only fairly, settled back and was never a threat. Today’s speed map favours him with a clean jump from barrier 4, while Nichola Yuen’s 10lb claim makes him hard to get past. #11 Tin Fook led over 1,200m on the all-weather last time at his first start for Ricky Yiu and held on for third. Similar tactics switching back to Sha Tin over 1,400m should play into his hands. #1 Everyone’s Star was no match for Sky Jewellery last start, but a second to him reads well for a race like this. #2 Aerovolanic had a poor trip last start, which resulted in him finishing sixth to Sky Jewellery. That is a run to forgive and his prior winning form is the better guide.

Race 11: #1 Crossborderpegasus, #14 Almighty Lightning, #4 Turquoise Velocity, #2 Smart Golf

Race 1 – CELEBRATING OUR SHARED CHAMPION SPIRIT 1200M HANDICAP
#2 Autumn Vibes is the interesting runner on the stable switch to Brett Crawford and his trial for the new yard was a good sign. He drops into Class 5 for the first time and Purton taking the ride adds to the appeal. #13 Triumphant Warrior gets Nichola Yuen and her claim brings him in on 114lb, while his form has been heading the right way since joining Jamie Richards. Barrier 8 gives him the chance to be positive and give a sight. #1 Always Fluke has a wide draw to overcome, but his form has been strong this season with three placings from four starts. A genuinely run race can bring him into it late. #14 Supreme Winner has turned things around since joining the Douglas Whyte stable and comes off a maiden win over Always Fluke.

Race 2 – OWNERSHIP PRIDE 1200M HANDICAP
#8 Virtus Glory is a likeable debutant for Ricky Yiu and his trial work has been impressive enough to suggest he is ready to run well first-up. Barrier 13 is not ideal, but the speed map looks uncertain and that can still allow him to find a handy position and bring his trial form to race day. #10 Leading Dragon is improving with racing and took a clear step forward last time when runner-up to Elite Golf after leading throughout. Similar tactics look on the cards again. #1 Master Lucky is worth another chance after a poor trip at Happy Valley last time, finishing seventh but beaten only two and a quarter lengths. The run was better than it reads. #4 Chiu Chow Golf is a newcomer for the Frankie Lor stable and his trials have been trending the right way. Barrier 2 gives him the chance to land a good spot and run a race on debut.

Race 3 – RACING HERITAGE 1400M HANDICAP
#4 View All Things maps well from barrier 3 and comes off an encouraging first-up run, awkward away before settling back and closing nicely into fifth. Purton takes over, and the way he trialled between runs under him was a good sign. #9 Yee Cheong Raider has found form since joining the Brett Crawford stable, running back-to-back seconds, and he deserves his chance to go one better. He had to do it from barrier 12 last time and barrier 2 is the key swing in his favour. #3 Winning Machine was third in that same race and was sent off at very short odds under Moreira. It was a slowly run contest where most had their chance, so he may be a better price this time with Ellis Won aboard. #8 Winning Diamond finished fourth in the same event and was the one making the clearest late ground. Barrier 12 is not ideal, but the booking of Hugh Bowman adds interest.

Race 4 – THE HILLTOP IN THE VALLEY 1200M HANDICAP
#14 Sunny Q gets a kinder gate in barrier 3 after jumping from 9 last time, settling back and running on well into ninth. There does not look to be much speed on paper, so the key is being close enough in running early, because his turn of foot can still see him play a role. #12 Incredible Moment draws barrier 1 and shapes as the likely leader, giving himself the best opportunity yet to break through for a win. #3 Quartz Legend goes on in first-time blinkers, which catches the eye, and while barrier 13 is awkward, his form is good enough to have him in the mix. #13 Riding High can also make his own luck on speed from barrier 4 and, even though he is better placed in Class 5, he is not without hope under today’s conditions.

Race 5 – SHA TIN CLUBHOUSE 1400M HANDICAP
#6 Jubilant Star has been forced into quiet tactics from wide gates at his last three starts and gets a better chance from a middle draw today, with Purton sticking aboard. He was badly held up in the straight last time, so there is a forgive factor too. #2 Gallant Design looks close to a win after four very good runs, but he has had to do it with a few things against him at times, awkward draws and not always beginning cleanly. The ability is there. #1 Circuit Fiery looks the likely leader from barrier 5 under Nichola Yuen’s 10lb claim. That will prove a real asset in a race like this and they’ll be in it for a long while. #7 Let’s Have Fun showed he is on an upward trajectory last start when he attracted strong support and responded with his best effort yet when third.

Race 6 – THE QUEEN MOTHER MEMORIAL CUP (HANDICAP)
#5 Nautical Force made a statement on debut, winning well straight up in Class 2 over 1800m. This is a deeper test stepping into Group 3 company, but he beat the key rivals fair and square that day and the performance stood up on the clock. #2 Winning Wing carries weight but brings the strongest form, a Group 1 third behind Romantic Warrior at set weights two runs ago, then dropping back to 1800m and still finishing off well into eighth to Nautical Force after being ridden well back. The step up to 2400m is new ground, but he shapes as though he will relish it. #3 Gentlemen Legacy draws barrier 1 and looks suited by the run of the race, while the extra trip is what he has been calling for. #1 Stunning Peach has a big weight to shoulder as well, but the rise in distance suits.

Race 7 – BEAS RIVER COUNTRY CLUB 1800M HANDICAP
#5 Vermilion Tempest is worth another look after a few luckless runs since dropping into Class 4. He gets a good draw today and the switch to Sha Tin can suit. He is not without hope at a price. #6 Amazing Gaze is trending the right way and a kinder gate helps after barriers have not been his friend. Gate 8 is an improvement and gives him the chance to capitalise. #8 Volcanic Spark has been threatening all season, placing a few times from seven starts, and barrier 2 sets him up for every chance after going down by a head over 2000m last time. #1 Charity Together broke through for his first Hong Kong win in that same race, getting the better of Volcanic Spark at 2000m, and the drop back to 1800m does not look an issue. Barrier 3 gives him the opportunity to map a winning chance again.

Race 8 – THE MEMBERS CUP (HANDICAP)
#8 Sky Jewellery returned from a bleed in style, scoring a stunning 1400m win at the top of Class 3 on a day where not many won from his position in running. He looks a serious talent with more to come and still appears ahead of the handicapper. #2 Stormy Grove steps back from the Derby after finishing third behind Invincible Ibis, and his Classic Cup win earlier was ultra impressive. He is still untapped, but top weight asks the question in this line-up. #11 Pocketing can roll forward from barrier 11 and, if they choose to use that option, he may get a soft time in front. Second-up improvement is the angle. #9 Max Que comes off a strong Class 2 win and, under this ratings band, carries less weight, keeping him well placed again.

Race 9 – CONGHUA RACECOURSE 2000M HANDICAP
#9 Shamus Storm had excuses last week, bumped at the start and ending up further back than usual, then doing good work late after striking traffic in the straight and finishing sixth. He draws inside today and tries 2000m for the first time, which adds interest. #8 Enthusium looks close to a win after three local runs, his first two from wide draws where he did better than the results suggest, then improving again into third last time with a kinder gate. #1 Aerodynamics took luck out of it last start, rolling to the lead from an outside stall and allowing Purton to dictate. The map may not be as kind this time, but he has tactical versatility and still looks to have more improvement in him. #3 Pope Cody will be settling back and looking to be working into it late if the tempo suits.

Race 10 – SHENZHEN CENTRE 1400M HANDICAP
#9 Red Maestro made an encouraging debut over 1200m, finishing fifth in a race that has since turned into a strong form reference, with runner-up Geneva and Jubilant Winner in fourth both winning next time. He has trialled since and showed improvement. #14 Baby Sakura gets in very light, carrying 17lbs less than last time when he finished a luckless third. He is still a maturing three-year-old, but the talent is obvious. #8 Quantum Legend was well fancied on debut but could only manage ninth, not beaten far, and the step up to 1400m second-up looks an interesting move but can suit. Barrier 2 helps him land a clean run in a competitive race. #12 Exceed The Limit is coming on with racing and barrier 3 gives him the chance to run a race at odds.

Race 11 – BEIJING CLUBHOUSE 1200M HANDICAP
#1 Crossborderpegasus jumped fairly before blundering and losing ground first-up, then running on well into fifth from barrier 10 in a race that did not suit those settling back. It was his first run in four months, so he will be fitter second-up, and the tempo looks more suitable today. #14 Almighty Lightning takes on a tougher assignment, stepping up in both trip and class, but he has shown ability in two starts. First-time blinkers are the new angle and barrier 2 gives him the chance to map well off what should be a genuine tempo. #4 Turquoise Velocity is ultra-consistent and maps for a sweet run from barrier 3 and should have plenty of options in transit. #2 Smart Golf has trialled well since his last run, when he made it three wins from five, and while he faces more pressure in the map this time, he remains an untapped four-year-old with more to come.

Sha Tin Selections for Sunday, April 26th

Luke Middlebrook’s tips from Idol Horse below for Sha Tin meeting on Sunday, 26 April, 2026.

Sha Tin Selections for Sunday, April 26, 2026 – late Sat. night in the USA

Race 2: #1 Turin Champions, #6 Big Return, #4 Aestheticism, #7 Jolly Brilliant
Race 3: #6 Solid Car, #1 Absolute Heart, #2 Mr Incredible, #13 Better And Better
Race 4: #9 Daily Acclaim, #3 Robot Star, #1 Star Mac, #5 King Dance
Race 5: #1 Ka Ying Rising, #4 Fast Network, #3 Helios Express, #2 Satono Reve
Race 6: #5 Cool Boy, #4 Geneva, #8 Pegas, #2 Circuit Grand Slam
Race 7: #1 Jantar Mantar, #4 Lucky Sweynesse, #5 My Wish, #8 Strauss
Race 8: #1 Helene Supafeeling, #4 Fit For Beauty, #10 Aeroinvincible, #7 The Red Hare
Race 9: #2 Romantic Warrior, #1 Masquerade Ball, #4 Sosie, #3 Royal Champion
Race 10: #3 Endued, #14 Rising Phoenix, #6 Family Jewel, #9 The Golden Knight
Race 11: #11 Salon S, #5 Winning Ovation, #12 Mighty Masts, #9 Six Pack

Race 1 – FWD INSURANCE ACT PRIVATE HANDICAP
#11 Prestige Hall has been knocking on the door this season, three seconds from seven starts, and wide draws on occasion have not helped. He has barrier 6 today with Bowman. #9 Lucrative Eight made a promising start when third on debut and barrier 1 gives him a clean set-up second-up. That matters for an inexperienced runner and he can take a step forward. #13 Packing King resumes off a stable change from Pierre Ng to Danny Shum and his trials for the return have been encouraging. Purton taking the ride adds plenty of interest. #5 The Heir has been threatening another win at Happy Valley, placing in four straight runs, and the switch back to Sha Tin can be a positive given he has finished second twice from three attempts here.

Race 2 – FWD INSURANCE GOAHEAD GROUP HANDICAP
#1 Turin Champions drops back into Class 4 and that looks a better fit, while barrier 4 is a welcome change after drawing wide in three of his last four runs. The lack of obvious speed on paper gives him the chance to land in a sweet spot from the gate and give himself every chance. #6 Big Return has tactical versatility and gets a far kinder draw in barrier 3 after winning last time from barrier 12, so he should not be forced as far back in running. He is only a four-year-old and looks to be learning quickly. #4 Aestheticism has been running well in races where the barriers or race shape have worked against him, but he appears ready to win again. The return to this track and trip is a key positive. #7 Jolly Brilliant is an improving three-year-old who now looks ready for the mile, while the booking of Hugh Bowman adds to the appeal.

Race 3 – FWD INSURANCE ICBC (ASIA) HANDICAP
#6 Solid Car resumes off a pleasing trial, making up ground late without being asked for much, and he looks well placed to strike. Recent thirds behind Emblazon and Hot Delight are strong formlines and he maps well from barrier 3 for Ethan Brown. #1 Absolute Heart made an instant impression on debut, leading throughout to win impressively. He has since won a trial in good style and looks a three-year-old capable of progressing, while barrier 1 again gives him every chance to control the tempo. #2 Mr Incredible did not get the clearest of runs in the straight last start, but his debut win was a proper performance and barrier 2 sets him up to bounce back. #13 Better And Better finally broke through last time after plenty of chances, but he has often been thereabouts, so he remains in the picture.

Race 4 – FWD INSURANCE BOCOM HANDICAP
#9 Daily Acclaim draws well in barrier 3 and gets Moreira for the first time after two encouraging runs over 1200m. The step up to 1400m looks timely in an open race and he appears ready to put his best foot forward. #3 Robot Star is an untapped four-year-old, one win and a pair of seconds from six starts, who still has more to show. First-time blinkers are the key change. #1 Star Mac is a stable switcher and the booking of James McDonald stands out. He is first-up off a bleed, and this is his second start in Class 4. #5 King Dance was impressive winning last time from a wide draw, settling last before producing a sharp sprint off a slow tempo to score by a neck, and he remains an intriguing type as a lightly exposed four-year-old.

Race 5 – THE CHAIRMAN’S SPRINT PRIZE
#1 Ka Ying Rising goes for a record-extending 20th straight win on his final run of the season, and it is hard to frame it as anything other than another facile task for the world’s best sprinter. #4 Fast Network matches up closely with Helios Express on their head-to-head, and the swing factor tends to be where each lands in the run. Barrier 2 could prove key to beating Helios Express. #3 Helios Express has clashed with Ka Ying Rising 12 times and finished second eight times, plus third on three occasions, the resume of a top-class horse who has had the misfortune of sharing an era with a champion. #2 Satono Reve has form around Ka Ying Rising, third in the 2024 Hong Kong Sprint and second in this race last year, before a ninth in December’s Hong Kong Sprint. He bounced back in Japan when winning March’s G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen.

Race 6 – FWD 1828 HANDICAP
#5 Cool Boy is a promising three-year-old with three wins from five, and his last-start fourth can be upgraded. He was slow away from barrier 10, raced keenly throughout, yet still finished strongly from eighth behind the talented Hot Delight. That effort sets him up to bounce back. #4 Geneva has returned this season in good order with back-to-back placings and his pattern remains the same, get back and run on. He looks ready to win when the race shape suits. #8 Pegas is better placed back at Sha Tin after two Happy Valley runs where he did not feature, but he was not beaten far and both efforts had merit given the circumstances. A good trial between runs suggests his form is good. #2 Circuit Grand Slam adds intrigue back in class and back in trip after taking on the Classic Mile and Classic Cup, then doing it tough in a wide run over 1400m.

Race 7 – THE FWD CHAMPIONS MILE
#1 Jantar Mantar is a four-time G1 winner and tries Sha Tin for the second time after a Hong Kong Mile run in 2024 that did not go to plan, reportedly off an interrupted preparation and a tough trip throughout. He is older now and arrives with major wins in 2025, taking the Yasuda Kinen and the Mile Championship, form that earned him Japan’s Champion Sprinter title. #4 Lucky Sweynesse has relished the mile, winning the Chairman’s Trophy last time. Barrier 4 gives him plenty of tactical options, especially with some key rivals drawn wide. #5 My Wish needs to take another step and prove himself at G1 level, unplaced from four attempts so far, although the runs have had merit. Barrier 10 will likely see him ridden with patience, but his turn of foot remains his weapon when the tempo suits. #8 Strauss is another Japanese runner with quality, and Moreira knows him well.

fans at hong kong track

A.I. generated image of racing fans in Hong Kong

Race 8 – FWD INSURANCE CCB (ASIA) HANDICAP
#1 Helene Supafeeling reunites with James McDonald, who won on his Hong Kong debut four runs ago. He has not quite gone on with it since, but the inside draw and that jockey booking tick boxes. #4 Fit For Beauty has been in fine form this season, three wins and two seconds from nine starts, and his latest runner-up finish behind Mighty Masts had merit after racing wide throughout. Barrier 11 is awkward, but the form is there. #10 Aeroinvincible arrives off back-to-back Class 4 wins and returns to Class 3 as an improved horse. The draw sets him up for a sweet run in transit. #7 The Red Hare rarely runs a bad race and, while he has had chances to win more than once, this does not look the deepest contest, with Nichola Yuen’s 10lb claim adding an interesting layer.

Race 9 – THE FWD QEII CUP
#2 Romantic Warrior goes for a record-extending fourth win in this race and it is hard to find the horse to trouble him on home soil. His Sha Tin 2000m record tells the story, beaten only once from 14 tries, when Golden Sixty edged him by a head in the 2023 Gold Cup. #1 Masquerade Ball arrives with an elite rating after chasing home 2025’s highest-rated horse Calandagan in the Japan Cup. He also won the Tenno Sho Autumn in November, beating subsequent Arima Kinen winner Museum Mile. The form is there, now he needs to show it abroad. #4 Sosie comes with fewer questions than most after winning December’s Hong Kong Vase, and barrier 2 gives Guyon the chance to land a soft run. #3 Royal Champion is the wildcard, seemingly finding career-best form as an eight-year-old since the stable switch to Karl Burke.

Race 10 – FWD INSURANCE NCB HANDICAP
#3 Endued has been a standout this season already with two wins, and he arguably could be coming here with a better record given his last two runs were unlucky. He looks well placed again and the conditions give him every chance to atone. #14 Rising Phoenix caught plenty of late market support last start and the run had merit, charging into fourth and beaten under a length despite missing the placings. He can make his presence felt today from an inside barrier. #6 Family Jewel is three wins from five at this track and trip, which is the key profile angle for a form lift, and first-time blinkers are another change to note. #9 The Golden Knight goes for a hat-trick and is hard to knock on current form, but barrier 10 asks him to do it the harder way this time.

Race 11 – FWD INSURANCE CMB WING LUNG BANK HANDICAP
#11 Salon S is a three-year-old on the rise for Frankie Lor, chasing a five-win streak and aiming to stay unbeaten as he tackles his toughest test yet, his first look at Class 2. He loves to jump and run, can sustain strong sectionals, and still has a kick when asked. #5 Winning Ovation has burst back into form this season, winning two of three and then going down by a head last start after racing wide throughout. Barrier 2 gives him the chance to enjoy a smoother trip this time and test the favourite. #12 Mighty Masts is lightly raced in Hong Kong with only five starts, but his first win last time was emphatic, drawing clear by more than three lengths and showing an impressive turn of foot. #9 Six Pack has been consistent against plenty of these and barrier 1 sets him up to keep that form line rolling again.

Sha Tin Selections for Sunday, March 22nd

Luke Middlebrook’s tips from Idol Horse below for Sha Tin on Sunday, Mar 22, 2026.

Sha Tin Selections for Sunday, March 22, 2026

Race 1: #1 Robot Star, #8 Mega Mastermind, #3 Forza Toro, #6 Flying Boom
Race 2: #1 Baby Sakura, #7 Daily Acclaim, #9 Prestige Hall, #2 Spicy Standard
Race 3: #9 Circuit Champion, #6 Lifeline Express, #4 City Gold Banner, #10 Refusetobeenglish
Race 4: #2 Goldentronicmighty, #3 Gold Patch, #5 Happy Shooter, #4 Master Lucky
Race 5: #12 Absolute Honour, #7 Gallant Design, #3 Conrad Patch, #2 All Round Winner
Race 6: #4 Hot Delight, #3 Cool Boy, #2 Mickley, #10 Matzden
Race 7: #3 Stormy Grove, #5 Invincible Ibis, #2 Numbers, #1 Little Paradise
Race 8: #11 Enthralled, #6 Smart Avenue, #4 Aerodynamics, #10 Packing Fighter
Race 9: #5 Amazing Partners, #2 Super Express, #12 Turin Champions, #9 Aerovolanic
Race 10: #10 Infinite Resolve, #13 Winning Ovation, #11 Steps Ahead, #12 Six Pack

Race 1 – LUGER HANDICAP
#1 Robot Star has trialled well since his second behind Blazing Wukong, a solid first try at the mile given he raced on pace in a run that did not favour his pattern. A good run in transit looks on offer today from barrier 7 and he can bounce back to winning form. #8 Mega Mastermind can roll forward in a race that does not look strong for early speed, and his last-start third behind The Golden Knight was a step in the right direction for the three-year-old. #3 Forza Toro comes off back-to-back thirds and the switch to Hugh Bowman is a notable change as he looks to break through. #6 Flying Boom broke through over the mile last time and draws well to get a similar run again.

Race 2 – PING HAI STAR HANDICAP
#1 Baby Sakura could not have started his career any better, scoring comfortably by more than a length despite jumping from barrier 11. A good trial since shows he has come on for that run, and barrier 2 gives him a far easier task this time even under top weight. #7 Daily Acclaim made a positive impression on debut, settling back after a fair start before running on strongly into fourth against the race shape. He can take improvement from the experience second-up. #9 Prestige Hall comes here off back-to-back seconds from wide draws and is knocking on the door. A mid-draw should see him positioned closer in the run this time. #2 Spicy Standard resumes after being off the scene since September, having been withdrawn from an intended October run due to an irregular heart rhythm. His trials have been sound and the form around him reads well.

Race 3 – FURORE HANDICAP
#9 Circuit Champion steps up in grade chasing back-to-back wins and has kept ticking over well, winning a trial between runs against decent opposition. His early speed should see him settle on the pace and give himself every chance to win again. #6 Lifeline Express gets back and needs the breaks, but he has been knocking on the door through three straight placings and a win this season looks close. #4 City Gold Banner won impressively on debut, then missed the start second-up and was forced to settle back before running on into seventh. Third-up and up to 1200m looks good timing, and barrier 2 sets him up for a much better run. #10 Refusetobeenglish finally gets a kinder draw after a series of awkward gates and encouraging runs at Happy Valley where the race often did not unfold for him. The low gate gives his map a clear upgrade this time.

Race 4 – SKY DARCI HANDICAP
#2 Goldentronicmighty has not been disgraced in stronger races in Class 3 recently but slotting back into Class 4 gives his chances a boost. A good lead-in trial suggests he is ready to run well back at this level. #3 Gold Patch won smartly on debut over 1000m and was well backed to repeat the dose second-up when stepping to 1200m, but he raced greenly in the straight and had to settle for third. The experience will do him good and he can improve again, although barrier 13 makes his map tricky. #5 Happy Shooter brings solid form after finishing second to Conrad Patch last time, and barrier 3 sets him up to be right in the finish. #4 Master Lucky ran a promising second from a wide draw at his first try over 1200m last start, and while barrier 10 is not ideal, it is workable in a race like this.

Race 5 – FAY FAY HANDICAP
#12 Absolute Honour is a stable switcher to note, now with Frankie Lor and winning a recent trial well. Purton takes the ride, barrier 3 gives him every chance to land well in running, and his form before the transfer already hinted a win was not far away. #7 Gallant Design is better placed from a kinder draw than last time, when he was at the tail in a slow run 1200m, with the form around him from that race standing up since. He has trialled well for the step up in trip. #3 Conrad Patch is a three-year-old on the up after winning at start three. 1400m is the new question, while barrier 11 likely forces quieter tactics, which can still work if the tempo unfolds as it reads. #2 All Round Winner has improved since the blinkers went on three runs ago, and the drop in grade is another positive.

Race 6 – WERTHER HANDICAP
#4 Hot Delight is a proper talent on the rise after making it two from two last time, and this time next year he could be seriously in Classic Series conversations. The ratings climb comes quickly for these progressive types, but staying in Class 3 keeps him well placed for now before Class 2 tests arrive against older, more seasoned opposition. #3 Cool Boy is three from four and continues to do what is asked. A good trial since completing the hat-trick suggests his form remains intact. #2 Mickley has found his groove since dropping back to 1200m, settling back off the speed and finishing strongly when the tempo is on. #10 Matzden looks better suited ridden with more patience after being used early over 1400m last time and weakening late, and his earlier 1200m runs were the better guide.

Race 7 – THE BMW HONG KONG DERBY 2026
#3 Stormy Grove stamped himself as the one to beat with a Classic Cup win that was all strength, sweeping into the race and sustaining his run to the line. His pattern remains the same: settle back, let the race unfold, then produce the late surge. #5 Invincible Ibis has had a faultless preparation, improving with each run. His map looks ideal from barrier 3 and he is ready to peak on grand final day. #2 Numbers is the likely leader on paper and the chance to control matters adds to the intrigue of the speed map. His Classic Cup fourth had merit given the early pressure. #1 Little Paradise had plenty go wrong in the Classic Cup after claiming the Classic Mile impressively, missing the start and enduring a messy trip before only getting into the race late. He drops in from barrier 10 and will be looking to unleash late.

Race 8 – DESIGNS ON ROME HANDICAP
#11 Enthralled gets a much kinder draw after three straight runs from wide gates, and the change should allow him to settle closer. Two trials in quick succession have been encouraging, and in a wide-open race he appeals as a lesser fancied chance. #6 Smart Avenue looks close to another win and his best efforts come when ridden with patience. A steady tempo does place a premium on timing, but his turn of foot still makes him dangerous. #4 Aerodynamics has been edging towards a first Hong Kong win and he can put himself in the race despite barrier 10, using his early speed to find a spot on pace in a race that looks devoid of speed. #10 Packing Fighter caught the eye with a sharp recent trial, which hints at improvement on race day after four local runs where his form has been building.

Race 9 – RAPPER DRAGON HANDICAP
#5 Amazing Partners has gone two from two since stepping up to 1400m and the weight relief on the class rise keeps him right on track for the hat-trick. Barrier 3 sets him up to land the gun run. #2 Super Express has had two chances to win again from better draws than 11, and tactics have not helped him in either run, yet he has finished runner-up both times for good efforts. He shapes as a leading chance to get back to winning ways. #12 Turin Champions is a three-year-old with upside, already a winner and twice second from five starts, and he can appreciate the drop in the weights after carrying top weight last time and never seeing clear running when he needed it. #9 Aerovolanic keeps Purton after their two-length Class 4 win from barrier 11, and on the class rise he maps to get his chance from barrier 4.

Race 10 – GOLDEN SIXTY HANDICAP
#10 Infinite Resolve drops back in trip after taking on the Classic Cup over 1800m. His ninth had merit from the back of the field, producing a quick dash before peaking on his run. The return to 1400m looks the key to bringing his turn of foot into play. #13 Winning Ovation resumed in fine order off a lengthy break, leading throughout to win going away over Super Express. This is a stiffer test, but the manner of that win suggested a four-year-old with plenty still ahead of him. #11 Steps Ahead has been freshened since his last run and has trialled well for the return. He is still chasing a win this season, but three placings from six starts, all without being beaten far, reads as reliable form. #12 Six Pack rises in class but drops 20lb in the weights. That sort of relief can prove decisive in a race like this.

Race 10: #1 Fast Network, #3 Beauty Waves, #8 Invincible Shield, #7 Storm Rider
Race 11: #3 Super Express, #4 Winning Ovation, #11 Matzden, #7 Harold Win

Race 1 – SUFFOLK HANDICAP
#13 Heroic Master is one to keep an eye on first-up on a stable switch, and while his recent form has gone off the boil, his race experience can count for plenty in a field full of inexperienced runners and he maps for a good run from barrier 11. #7 Mapogo has trialled well for debut and arrives off six unbeaten trials, three in Hong Kong and three in Australia. He will be well fancied to win straight up. #12 Loving Vibes is another stable switcher, from Francis Lui to Mark Newnham, and the same angle applies, his experience and recent efforts stack up well in this company even if his best exposed form has been at Happy Valley rather than this track and trip. #4 Dragon Hall needs a cleaner jump second-up, but he did good work late on debut and barrier 14 for a rails run is key.

Race 2 – SOMERSET HANDICAP
#1 The Concentration has thrived since the blinkers went on four starts ago, following back-to-back thirds with back-to-back wins. Barrier 1 and the booking of McMonagle should give him every chance to stay in the fight for a hat-trick. #8 Windicator Family makes his first start for Cody Mo with the tongue tie added, and barrier 2 gives him a much kinder set-up than the wide draw he faced last time. An encouraging trial since adds to the case. #9 Draco has been consistent this season, placing third three times from six starts, and he returns fresh after trialling nicely. #3 Bling Bling Genius was disappointing at Happy Valley last time, but the switch to 1400m at Sha Tin can help him rebound, especially with Hugh Bowman taking the ride.

Race 3 – RUTLAND HANDICAP
#11 Juicy Dragon finished alongside One Man Show last time after meeting traffic late, and his recent efforts suggest a win is not far away. A sound trial between runs and a jockey switch to Andrea Atzeni have him looking poised. #2 One Man Show has been knocking on the door through back-to-back placings at the course and distance. The draw is awkward, but Purton can still give him the chance to land in the right spot. #3 Bundle Of Charm returned to Class 4 in encouraging style, finishing off strongly into fourth at Happy Valley over 1200m, but the switch to the all-weather can lift his prospects given he has two wins from seven at this track and trip. #10 Zouper Fellow can roll to the front and give a sight, and Karis Teetan is a positive booking around this surface.

The Impact of the Hong Kong International RacesRace 4 – RUTLAND HANDICAP
#6 Good Chap broke through in good style at his first try over this track and trip, and the addition of blinkers made an immediate difference. He has trialled well since and looks capable of going on with it. #1 Fun N Fun Together drops back into Class 4 after a solid try in Class 3, where he found the grade too strong. Purton reunites with him after steering him first-up to a win this season in a similar race. #8 King Dance has also improved in blinkers, producing a fast-finishing sixth two starts ago before breaking through at start 11 last time. The draw does not help, but expect a surging finish. #10 Shinyu Kokoroe stumbled at the start last time, settled back, then closed off well into fifth behind King Dance. He is now low enough in the ratings to make his presence felt if he begins on terms.

Race 5 – NORFOLK HANDICAP
#3 Master Trillion is worth another chance after a close-up fourth on his return to Class 4, looming like the winner in the straight before the early tempo told late. Barrier 1 gives him another good map in a race where the tempo looks kinder this time. #4 The Golden Knight was disappointing as favourite last time, but the run is easy enough to forgive after he raced wide and was left without a finishing effort. Orman takes over from barrier 4, and that can help him bounce back. #7 Lucky Year kept finding into fifth behind Lucky Ranger over 1400m, and that form has held up well since. With only three starts to his name, he is on the up. #5 Beauty Viva has not won from 18 starts, but he is rarely beaten far. Hugh Bowman sticking with him after a closing fifth is a positive sign.

Race 6 – KENT HANDICAP
#8 Illuminous is an outsider chance, resuming after a bleed and dropping back in trip, but barrier 1 gives him a soft map and his lead-in trial was a good piece of work. He is also well down in the ratings to strike a race like this. #10 Gor Gor took a clear step forward at his second start for the Brett Crawford stable, winning well and looking capable of going on with it. #3 Bigtime Generation finished sixth in that same race after drawing the outside gate, settling last before running on strongly to be beaten a little over two lengths. His map looks much kinder this time. #2 Yee Cheong Glory gets a key swing as Bowman takes over and barrier 2 replacing barrier 5. His fast-finishing fourth last time had merit, and this setup gives him the chance to be closer in the run.

Race 7 – DEVON HANDICAP
#2 Californiatotality can take a step forward second-up after closing into fifth over 1800m at Happy Valley. Back to this track and trip is the key, given he has won three of five here, and barrier 2 should see him land the run of the race. #10 Fortune Boy backs up quickly after flashing home for second behind Gentleman Legacy over 2000m, a run that lifted him to the required mark to make this field. He is out of the handicap, but the drop in weight and race fitness are beneficial factors. #6 Stunning Peach comes off a last-start win, his second in Hong Kong, after a string of forgive runs beforehand. #8 Prestige Good was disappointing in tenth last time, but his form before that had been solid. The drop back in trip looks a plus, and barrier 1 should give him every chance to rebound.

Race 8 – CORNWALL HANDICAP
#10 Supreme Sea is a three-year-old with clear upside after an impressive debut win followed by a third second-up under top weight. He now rises to Class 3, the drop in weight is a plus, but the competition is stiff. #6 Victory Sky did it the hard way when chasing a hat-trick last time, trapped wide throughout before boxing on into fifth. Barrier 1 should ensure a much kinder run today. #2 Magnifique made a pleasing start on the all-weather, forced to work early from barrier 12 before sticking on well for third, and barrier 3 gives him the chance to settle far more comfortably this time. #1 Capital Delight finally gets back to a set-up that suits after a season where little has gone right, returning to his pet track and trip off an encouraging trial.

Race 9 – THE KOWLOON TONG CLUB TROPHY (HANDICAP)
#5 Power Of Vitam took a big step forward second-up when stretched to the mile, winning convincingly after an improved trial between runs off his debut ninth. #6 The Red Hare chased him home as runner-up and had a case to be closer to him, held up at a key stage in the straight before finishing on strongly once clear. Now he gets Purton in the saddle. #7 Smart Avenue did too much work when ridden forward from a wide draw last time and the strong tempo told late. A return to quieter tactics can bring improvement. #9 Endued brings a formline that is starting to read well, finishing third behind Stormy Grove last time after racing close to the speed and wide throughout, and that was a solid effort in the circumstances.

Race 10 – ESSEX HANDICAP
#1 Fast Network drops back from Group company after finishing behind Ka Ying Rising in his last three starts, and that form makes him the obvious one to beat even under top weight. #3 Beauty Waves has trialled very well between runs since bouncing back to winning ways in a Class 2 over 1200m, his first showing of the season, and it hinted he is on the way back. #8 Invincible Shield gets weight relief and looks well treated after settling too far back last time, then flashing home into second behind Sky Trust. #7 Storm Rider went around favourite ahead of Beauty Waves last time but did too much work on the pace and faded into seventh. A sharp trial since then suggests he can improve if ridden with a touch more patience.

Race 11 – CUMBERLAND HANDICAP
#3 Super Express is improving with racing and his narrow defeat to Riding Together last time was full of merit. He settled midfield, let down well and only just missed after the winner led throughout. Off that run, he is ready to go one place better. #4 Winning Ovation returns from a ligament injury after not being seen since his second-up win in May last year, but his two trial wins have been hard to ignore. In a race that does not look strong on speed, he can map handy and give himself every chance. #11 Matzden is third-up and both runs this prep have been encouraging, especially his latest fifth behind Galactic Voyage when he never really saw daylight at the right time. That form has since held up. #7 Harold Win gets a key rider switch to Jerry Chau and a map upgrade from barrier 10 into barrier 2.

Sha Tin Selections for Sunday

Race 1 – FU TAI HANDICAP
#4 Good Prospect had a clear excuse last time when his tongue went over the bit. A tongue-tie goes on for the first time and his earlier form had been trending the right way since the switch to Brett Crawford’s stable. He is worth another look in this typically open Class 5. #9 Manythanks Forever won impressively from barrier 12 last start and barrier 1 this time sets him up far better to be competitive again. #7 Majestic Delight finally draws inside after doing it tough from wide gates in his last two runs and he can improve on that switch alone. #1 Gale Saga charged home from near last into second from barrier 11 last time. Barrier 4 should allow him to settle closer and that can sharpen his winning chance as Pierre Ng runners start to hit form.

Race 2 – LUNG YAT HANDICAP
#11 Glory Cloud hit the line well into sixth from barrier 12 last time but barrier 1 gives his map an upgrade, much like three runs ago when he broke through. That win came in Class 5, but this Class 4 does not look beyond him. #3 Mr Cool brings back-to-back thirds into this and there was merit in the latest after covering ground. Barrier 2 should allow for a better trip today. #2 Flowing Riches found something again at his first try on the all-weather, running third to Speedy Smartie, and he may have found a surface he enjoys. Barrier 11 is the drawback and he will need things to fall into place early. #12 King Dance is on the cusp of sliding into Class 5, but blinkers first time last start sparked improvement and he ran on into sixth against the race shape.

Race 3 – ON TING HANDICAP
#5 Lucky Ranger is a progressive three-year-old, but he had it all to do on debut from barrier 12. He was only fair away, settled near last, and could not match Majestic Valour up front, yet he still closed strongly to get within a length and three-quarters on the line. Barrier 14 is another tough draw, but the rise to 1400m at least gives him more time to slot in. #1 Top Time is worth another chance after a luckless sixth last start when badly held up and never getting a clear crack at them. #10 Absolute Honour is running well without winning, bringing back-to-back placings into this, and barrier 4 puts him in the right spot. #3 Aerovolanic was unsuited over the mile last time, and the drop back in trip reads as a positive after he placed third two runs ago.

Race 4 – LUNG YAT HANDICAP
#12 Juicy Dragon gets another look after he had a horror run when seventh to Speedy Smartie. He was hampered mid-race, forced three-wide after that, then copped interference in the straight. #1 One Man Show took to the all-weather first time under race conditions when a close second to Bright Mortar and he has trialled well since. He is improving and looks ready to win. #3 Speedy Smartie is absolutely thriving since joining Brett Crawford, winning by a margin last time for his third win from seven this season. He sets the standard again. #9 Monta Frutta had no hope from barrier 11 last time, trapped wide throughout. His flashing second from a kinder draw prior is the run to lean on here and barrier 1 gives him a similar opportunity.

Race 5 – ON TING HANDICAP
#4 Strathpeffer can roll forward in a race that does not show much speed on paper. He returned with a solid second to Robot Star after rolling forward from barrier 10 and he can again take up a handy spot, even from barrier 11. #2 Rezeki made full use of barrier 1 last time when mapping close and winning, and he draws barrier 1 again, the set-up is similar and he is clearly hitting his straps. #11 Star Figure is an improving type and he can be better than a closing eighth from a wide draw on the all-weather. This track and trip suits the profile. #5 All Round Winner comes in off an impressive trial and he has had little go his way in recent runs. Now well into Class 4, he’s ready to make his mark when the breaks come.

Race 6 – THE YAN OI TONG CUP (HANDICAP)
#2 Conrad Patch turned his trial promise into an encouraging debut second to Hot Delight, who looks a talent on the rise. Natural improvement second-up is the expectation for him to go one better. #4 Malpensa took a clear step forward second-up after a forgettable debut. He was slow away from barrier 10, settled last, then finished strongly into fourth behind Hot Delight. #7 Island Buddy justified a big betting move first-up for the Brett Crawford stable by leading all the way. Similar tactics can see him give another sight. #9 Invictus Dragon is trending the right way and he has not had much luck in recent runs. His third to Lucky Eight last time was a step in the right direction and barrier 4 sets him up to land just off the speed.

Race 7 – TAI HING HANDICAP
#2 Loyal Bright is a horse on the up after landing his first Hong Kong win impressively, leading all the way. He does not have to make the running again, but his early speed should still see him land in a good spot. #9 Galactic Voyage is trending the right way and he ran on well for third behind Loyal Bright last time after jumping from barrier 11. #1 Celestial Hero was unlucky not to finish closer last start when third and it was his best run of the campaign. He looks to be building towards his next win if the breaks come at the right time. #8 Chill Buddy surprised by rolling forward from barrier 12 last time and he did well to stick on for second. That was a solid effort and he also looks to be going the right way.

Race 8 – THE CENTENARY VASE (HANDICAP)
#7 Numbers is a serious Derby contender after an impressive second-up win in the city over 2000m. The form around him has continued to stack up and, on the light weight, he can be hard to run down. #4 Encountered tends to improve second-up and this track and trip suits. He stuck on for fourth first-up in the January Cup after a fast-run race and it was a better run than the bare result reads. #3 Chancheng Glory is chasing back-to-back wins in this race after taking it out last year, but he has not won since then. Zac Purton takes the ride for the second time and it is a timely booking. #5 Speed Dragon comes off a strong win in the G3 January Cup. He now switches to Sha Tin, where his record is not as strong, but it’s hard to dismiss him on form.

Race 9 – WU KING HANDICAP
#5 Aurora Patch switches back to the all-weather after running second to Victory Sky from barrier 11 three runs ago. The map looks far kinder this time from barrier 3, where he can turn the tables. #3 Victory Sky has found career-best form, winning back-to-back races to go two-from-two at the course and trip, and he shapes as the one to beat. #2 Magnifique resumed with a bang first-up off a bleed, scoring comfortably down the straight to take his record to four wins from five. This is his first run on the all-weather, but he has trialled well on the surface between runs. Barrier 12 is the obvious query. #4 Blazing Wind finally broke through last time under Zac Purton, but Purton rides Victory Sky here. Barrier 1 and Ellis Wong’s claim still set him up for a good run.

Race 10 – YAN TIN HANDICAP
#14 The Absolute is the throw at the stumps. He resumes from a lengthy break and his vet record is a concern, but he has some good runs on the board that stand him in good stead. He will be overlooked and he is the knockout chance at odds. #4 Emblazon is thriving and sets the bar high. He goes for a hat-trick after stepping up to Class 3 last time and making it three wins from four starts and he remains the one to beat. #2 Ka Ying Attack did not see out the mile last time, but his run prior over 1400m was solid and the drop back in trip brings him back into play. He will give a sight from his low draw. #1 Juneau Pride comes into this off his best run of the season when third to Emblazon and he can continue to build on that.

Race 11 – YAU OI HANDICAP
#5 Aerodynamics may be suited by the speed map, as there does not look to be much early pace. He sat handy over the mile second-up and was beaten a neck into second, and he is clearly trending the right way. #4 Dazzling Fit can also settle closer than he has in his last two runs over the mile. He needs to lift here to press his Classic Cup and Derby claims, and barrier 4 gives him the chance. #13 Flow Water Flow has taken an interesting path into this after two runs over 1200m, then 1400m, then stepping to the mile fourth-up and winning well. He rises in class on a light weight and is a horse with more to come. #7 Money Catcher is thriving this campaign, posting a win and three thirds from seven starts, and he is hard to knock.

Analysis – Sha Tin Selections for Sunday

Race 1 – CLEAR WATER BAY HANDICAP
#3 Bustling City is a promising debutant for David Hayes and he arrives unbeaten across four Hong Kong trials, plus one in New Zealand pre-import. His work has been full of promise and he looks capable of carrying that record straight to race day under Zac Purton. #1 Alsonso has the race experience in a field packed with first-starters and that can count for plenty. He is still chasing the win, but the trial win was a good lead-in and the latest run came with a vet excuse. #7 Leading Dragon drew the wrong part of the track on debut last week and still stuck on well for fifth. Barrier 12 gives him a far better map. #13 Conspirator has had two encouraging runs at the track and trip and barrier 14 is also a positive for the straight.

The Impact of the Hong Kong International RacesRace 2 – KIU TSUI HANDICAP
#1 Always Fluke resumes off a 329-day spell and he is the swing horse in an open Class 5. He lands barrier 1 for his first look in the grade and that soft run on the rail can put him in the finish at odds. #6 General Smart has been lifting since the class drop and his last-start sixth reads better than it looks after he was hemmed up late and not beaten far. #7 Only U flashed home into second on the all-weather last time and the switch back to turf is a plus. Barrier 2 gives him the ideal map. #3 I P O Bros went off favourite last time and was ridden handy from an inside draw, but he ran into traffic when it mattered. He has had enough in his recent runs to stick, and he may represent better value this time.

Race 3 – MIRS BAY HANDICAP
#1 Patch Of Theta has been stuck with awkward draws all season and has been taking on stronger races than this. He gets a kinder set-up in a small field and comes in off a fast-finishing third to Storm Rider. A tidy trial between runs keeps him ticking over and barrier 2 should have Hugh Bowman in the firing line. #6 Drombeg Banner looks the likely leader in a field of six and that can count for plenty. He reunites with Andrea Atzeni, who knows him well, and he can give a sight. #5 Healthy Happy also has the early speed to take up a forward role, as shown when he caused an upset four runs ago, scoring by a neck over Steps Ahead. #2 Tomodachi Kokoroe backs up quickly and this is a more suitable assignment than recent starts.

Race 4 – LAM TSUEN HANDICAP
#6 Crossborderdude brings back-to-back thirds over 1400m into this, looming like the winner before peaking late and being edged out last time. The drop back to 1200m looks suitable and he should be right in it again. #10 Warriors Dream has lifted since joining the Brett Crawford stable and he is trending the right way. #4 Call Me Success had little go his way on debut and the seventh reads worse than it should. He can take a step forward second-up with that experience under his belt. #8 Merlion makes his debut for the Douglas Whyte stable and barrier 1 gives him the chance to land in the right spot under Hugh Bowman. His trial work has been a little mixed, but the map looks kind enough for a first-starter in a moderate race.

Race 5 – LAM TSUEN HANDICAP
#1 Smart Golf is a horse on the way up. He had an excuse on debut when fifth over 1000m, then second-up he stepped to 1200m and made it a one-way street from barrier 11, leading throughout and beating Speedy Smartie, who has since franked the form. #12 Happy Shooter is well placed from barrier 1. He drew barrier 12 second-up, rolled forward, and still held on for second at long odds, and has trialled well between runs. He is a horse ready to win. #3 Cloud Nine can be forgiven for his last-start seventh after being badly checked in the straight, which ended his chances on the spot, and he is worth another chance. #13 Decision Link is the other one to keep safe after joining the Caspar Fownes stable. His form at the track and trip reads well enough and his trials have been sound.

Race 6 – HOI HA HANDICAP
#3 Alpha Strike is best forgiven for last time over 1200m at Sha Tin when he worked hard early to sit outside the leader in a fast-run race and then folded late. He is better suited back on the straight where he won on debut and barrier 9 is a decent draw for the straight course. #1 We Are Hero draws well in barrier 11 and he drops back into Class 3, which is where most of his best runs have been. The set-up ticks plenty of boxes. #10 Thunder Kit finished ninth on debut but he was held up just as he was building into his run. He can take a step forward second-up. #5 Together We Value has trialled well ahead of debut and the Zac Purton booking adds confidence that he is ready to show up straight away, but his barrier and map concern.

Race 7 – LONG VALLEY HANDICAP
#3 The Golden Knight looks to have a win waiting for him. He went close behind Flow Water Flow last time after being held up at a crucial stage, and a clearer run when it matters can tip him over the line. #2 Robot Star is a horse on the up after winning well at his third start and the mile is the next test, but his profile suggests there is more to come. #1 Blazing Wukong drops back into Class 4 after a few honest Class 3 efforts where luck was against. He is right back into calculations now but barrier 12 might be a slight query. #7 Smart Fat Cat has been edging towards a breakthrough and he can take another step in the right direction with James McDonald engaged to ride.

Race 8 – THE HONG KONG CLASSIC MILE
#6 Infinite Resolve has come back a better horse this preparation and he may still be flying under the radar. His last-start second to Little Paradise had plenty in it, settling back before letting down to finish a length off, and barrier 3 looks to set up the perfect map this time. #2 Little Paradise remains one of the hardest to beat after winning his first Class 2 test in style to make it five wins from eight starts. #3 Invincible Ibis is another major player after going two-from-two at this track and trip in his last two runs, improving each time he steps out. #1 Sagacious Life commands respect as the highest-rated runner at set weights. He has won two of three Hong Kong starts and his Class 2 form at the track and trip reads strongly.

Race 9 – ROBIN’S NEST HANDICAP
#6 Thousand Spirit gave himself too much to do last time after bounding out and losing ground, yet he still wound up well into third. A cleaner jump can see him land much closer in a race that lacks tempo and that makes a big difference to his chances. #1 Lunar Dash also looks set to get the right run on speed and the stable switch to Brett Crawford is a positive, given how well those transfers have been going. #2 Star Satyr usually gets back, but he rarely runs a poor race in this grade and a kinder gate can help him settle closer than last time. #3 Nyx Gluck reunites with James McDonald, which is a positive after he won on him two starts ago. He did not get the smoothest of runs when fifth last time but the set-up is better today.

Race 10 – KAT O HANDICAP
#10 California Waves was runner-up to The Red Hare two runs ago, then last time he did it the hard way from barrier 12, caught wide without cover, and finished two and a half lengths of Invincible Ibis. Barrier 1 changes everything and gives him a clear map upgrade. #4 Seraph Gabriel is best forgiven for his debut 11th, where plenty went wrong in running. A good trial since suggests he has come through it well and second-up he can take a step forward. #6 Wrote A New Page is a stable-switch runner for Caspar Fownes and his trial, while quiet, caught the eye. #9 The Red Hare was rewarded for consistency two runs ago when winning well, then last time he stepped up to the mile and never got a clear until late, finishing third to Invincible Ibis. The drop back in trip suits.

Race 11 – YAN CHAU TONG HANDICAP
#6 Super Express is a four-year-old with plenty of upside. He resumed from a seven-month break over this track and trip, drew barrier 12, and while he went under as an odds-on favourite, the second was still a promising return. He will strip fitter and is hard to go past. #3 Everyone’s Star was unsuited by the mile last time. The drop back in trip suits and his form at this distance has been solid since his breakthrough win last April. #2 Six Pack broke through last start after making full use of a low draw and he did it with enough authority to suggest he can be competitive again. #12 Without Compare ran a slashing third on debut after being forced back early from a wide draw. Barrier 3 gives him the chance to hold a closer spot and his trial between runs was sound.
