The Great Horse Racing Video Series – 1982 Hollywood Lassie (Landaluce Stakes)

On July 10, 1982, two-year-old filly Landaluce, trained by Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas, romped home by a sensational 21 lengths in the Hollywood Lassie. With Laffit Pincay, Jr. aboard, Landaluce sets fractions of :21 2/5 and :43 4/5 on her way to six furlongs in a sizzling 1:08 flat. This was just her second career start. After remaining unbeaten in five career starts, Landaluce shocked and saddened the racing world when she succumbed to illness and died. She was named the champion two-year-old filly of 1982.  Harry Henson calls the race, which would eventually would be renamed in her honor.
