Analysis: Happy Valley Selections for Wednesday, July 15

Race 1 – SILVER GRECIAN HANDICAP
#2 Conrad The Great drops into Class 5 for the first time and, just as importantly, finally draws an inside gate. After a couple of strong closing efforts from outside stalls, barrier 2 gives him the chance to settle closer and turn those finishes into something better. #9 Kasa Papa has come far enough down the ratings to make his presence felt, and Hugh Bowman from barrier 1 gives him every chance to capitalise. #3 Fashion Legend does not bring strong Happy Valley form, but the class drop, Moreira booking and barrier 3 are all positives in a race of this nature. #4 Our Lucky Glory sees Class 5 for the first time after several encouraging placings at the track and trip this season, and barrier 4 should allow him to map with every chance.

Race 2 – FAST MOST FURIOUS HANDICAP
#6 I Am Back steps out for his third career start and resumes for the first time since December, but his trials suggest he has returned in much better order. Barrier 2 gives Moreira the chance to put him straight into the right spot. #4 Genius Baby looks well placed back at Happy Valley after a series of strong finishes at Sha Tin, and barrier 3 gives him his own chance to map with every chance. #9 Loving Vibes has been banging on the door since joining Mark Newnham’s stable and cannot be discounted. #2 Winning Money can use his early toe to put himself on speed in a race short of it, and he can give a sight.

Hong Kong Happy Valley fireworks Hong Kong Expert Horse Racing Selections and Happy Valley Selections for WednesdayRace 3 – TURIN WARRIOR HANDICAP
#2 Casa Rochester was mapped poorly and caught wide last start, yet still was not beaten far into fourth. From barrier 2 on the quick back-up, he looks set for a much better run in transit. #10 Kyrus Treasure tries to stay unbeaten at Happy Valley, having come here for the first time last start, dropping into Class 5 and winning easily by two lengths. Moreira takes over now and the improving four-year-old can go on with it. #6 Storm Runner has barrier 12 to overcome, but there is not much speed here and he may be able to slide across without doing too much work. If he gets there cheaply, he can make his own luck. #8 Firefoot should also be able to race handy and has been one of the more consistent types in recent starts, which keeps him firmly in the mix.

Race 4 – SWEET ORANGE HANDICAP
#3 Light Years Glory ran a slashing sixth from a wide draw first-up at his first run for Eustace, and the move into a mid-draw gives him a much better map today. #1 Sky Deep gets a race shape to suit, with a distinct lack of pressure and barrier 3 giving Moreira the chance to control this from the front. If he is allowed to roll along on his terms, he will take running down. #8 Gorgeous Victory comes to Happy Valley for the first time after a series of encouraging Sha Tin efforts where he has looked ready to win. Purton sticks, and despite barrier 10, he should have enough tactical speed to come across and put himself in the race. #2 Ivy League draws well in barrier 2 and can improve with a more measured ride after leading too quickly last start and fading.

Race 5 – STAR SHINE HANDICAP
#1 Pejibaye had clear excuses on the all-weather last start after botching the start, losing ground, settling at the rear and never getting into the race. He is clearly better than that, and from barrier 4 he will be hard to beat if he breaks cleanly. #6 Shotgun resumes from barrier 1 and stands out despite not having strong Happy Valley form on paper. He should lead, and his return trial suggests he comes into this in good order. #12 Winning Champion is only a three-year-old who has needed time, but he has started to come to hand since switching to Happy Valley. He raced wide from an outside stall last start, and today’s better gate should give him a much kinder map. #9 Phoenix Light gets a good run from barrier 3 and arrives off a fast-finishing fourth, one of his best runs for the season.

Race 6 – SUPER OASIS HANDICAP
#7 Double Alpha has shown ability in two starts up the Sha Tin straight, but he went too quickly in front last time and was entitled to fade. Barrier 2 gives him the chance to land in a good spot at his first look at the city circuit, and Bowman taking over is a positive. #8 Little Monster returns to Happy Valley for the second time after flashing home into fourth at his first look before winning next time out at Sha Tin. Things have not gone his way in two runs since. #1 Armour War Eagle has slid down the ratings all season and is now at his third Class 4 start, where a better draw gives him the set-up to show more. #6 Gratifide took a step forward with blinkers on for the first time last start and maps as a chance again from barrier 3.

Race 7 – ENCOUNTERED HANDICAP
#10 Somelovefromabove comes in fresh, has barrier 1 and maps as the one to beat, even if the trip remains the query. Two lead-in trials suggest he is in good order and the draw gives him every chance to run them along. #11 Thriving Brothers raced wide without cover from barrier 13 at Sha Tin last start and weakened, but he is better than that. A mid-draw gives him the chance to get back to his proper form. #3 A Americ Te Specso gets no favours from barrier 12, but this is not a strong race and the lack of depth gives him the chance to close strongly late. #8 Super Unicorn is suited back to 1,650m after two runs over 1,800m and can improve.

Race 8 – LUCKY PATCH HANDICAP
#3 Crimson Flash gets back to his pet track and distance, where he is three from four, and the race shape looks made for him. There is plenty of speed engaged on paper, which should give him every chance to prove too strong late. #2 Bottomuptogether steps from barrier 1 with Moreira picking up the ride for Frankie Lor, giving him plenty of options to continue his consistent run of form. #4 Young Champion maps similarly to Crimson Flash, settling off the speed in a stalking position and looking to pounce over the top late. #5 Victor The Winner keeps Purton, which is meaningful, and a well-rated ride can see him hard to peg back.

Race 9 – SUN JEWELLERY HANDICAP
#4 Thunder Kit simply had no luck last start when third to Mr Incredible, held up for a good portion of the straight after being taken back early from a wide draw. He comes to Happy Valley for the first time with strong form behind him, and barrier 1 is key. #7 Endurance Express has had excuses in two solid on-pace runs, doing the early work in fast-run races and fading only late. Barrier 4 suits, and a kinder race shape gives him the chance to take a step forward. #11 Danica’s Choice rises back into Class 3 off his first Hong Kong win, an impressive effort from barrier 10, and the 10-pound relief at the weights is meaningful. #1 Flying Wrote has been in fine form all season, and he maps for another sweet run with every chance.

Race 2: #11 Oriental Surprise, #1 Matsu Victor, #6 Zetta Force, #10 Smiling Emperor
Race 3: #1 Casa Rochester, #5 Flying Fortune, #11 Northern Beast, #7 Lucky Together
Race 4: #5 Vivacious Win, #2 California Moxie, #1 Exceed The Limit, #11 Gazeley
Race 5: #4 Gameplayer Elite, #2 Meowth, #9 Forza Leader, #12 Winning Now
Race 6: #1 Spirit Of Peace, #4 Georgian Sigma, #3 Good Luck Happy, #5 Ryui Kokoroe
Race 7: #7 Pegas, #12 Robot Lucky Star, #4 Together We Value, #11 Blue Illusion
Race 8: #8 Endurance Express, #3 Jumbo Treasure, #9 Ace Champion, #11 Honest Witness
Race 9: #5 Romantic Gladiator, #2 Mighty Commander, #1 Fivefortwo, #8 Legend Winner

Race 1 – ICE HOUSE STREET HANDICAP
#8 Perfect Pairing made up a stack of late ground against an on-pace race shape when fourth last start. It was a nice run and he has been knocking on the door in recent starts. #3 Rosewood Fleetfoot won under a smart ride from Karis Teetan last start, when a mid-race move paid off. He is drawn more awkwardly this time, but his form is consistent against this lot. #2 Hailtothevictors keeps Moreira in the saddle after the pair finished second on the all-weather over 1,800m last start, with the step to 2,200m a fresh test. #6 Carryon Smiling can take a step forward at his second start for the Danny Shum stable, with Purton remaining in the saddle.

Sha Tin Analysis and Selections for SundayRace 2 – WESTLANDS ROAD HANDICAP
#11 Oriental Surprise comes into a low draw for the first time in four starts, and that is a major boost, as is the reunion with Zac Purton. The fact remains he is a 26-start maiden, but today’s set-up gives him every chance to capitalise. #1 Matsu Victor has his second start in Class 5 and the switch to Happy Valley is a positive. From barrier 1, he maps for a sweet run. #6 Zetta Force did not have the best of runs from barrier 11 last start and is better drawn today in barrier 4. His fast-finishing third three runs ago shows he is right in this with the right run. #10 Smiling Emperor has been catching the eye late in recent runs and has not been beaten far.

Race 3 – MORRISON HILL ROAD HANDICAP
#1 Casa Rochester reunites with Hugh Bowman for the first time since he won on him seven starts ago. The drop back into Class 4 is key third-up after two eye-catching efforts from outside stalls at the bottom of Class 3. #5 Flying Fortune has had two starts at Happy Valley, placing third at his first look at the city track before drawing barrier 11 last time and sticking on well after early work. Barrier 2 is a clear map upgrade. #11 Northern Beast maps for a sweet run from barrier 2, unlike last time on the all-weather from barrier 13. His second at this track and trip from barrier 3 two runs back is the better guide to his chances. #7 Lucky Together is well down in the ratings and comes off four runs from outside stalls where he has endured poor trips.

Race 4 – MORRISON HILL ROAD HANDICAP
#5 Vivacious Win can win again. The four-year-old scored softly by five lengths last time and remains in Class 4, which helps his chance of defying a 10-point rise in the handicap. From barrier 2, it is hard not to see him getting every chance. #2 California Moxie drops back into Class 4 after finding it tough in Class 3, while reacquainting with Hugh Bowman is a positive given he knows him well. #1 Exceed The Limit has been progressing with more racing and the first drop into Class 4 brought an improved second. #11 Gazeley has little form to speak of, but since blinkers went on two starts ago he has had wide draws and poor trips. Today could be different.

Race 5 – THE RACING WORLD 50TH ANNIVERSARY CUP (HANDICAP)
#4 Gameplayer Elite has been thriving since returning to Douglas Whyte’s yard, winning twice and placing twice from five starts. He resumes, has trialled just as well as ever and looks a key player from barrier 2. #2 Meowth has enjoyed a fine season with a win and five placings from 11 starts. Barrier 4 suits and he can make his own luck up on the pace. #9 Forza Leader flashed home late into fourth against the tempo from barrier 10 last time, making it a consecutive fourth-place finish. Barrier 5 is a better set-up and he is on an upward trend. #12 Winning Now had a poor trip on pace in a fast-run race last start and was entitled to fade. He switches to a senior rider today and a better run in transit looks likely.

Race 6 – CONNAUGHT ROAD CENTRAL HANDICAP
#1 Spirit Of Peace simply had no luck in the run from barrier 10 when fourth at his first run back in Class 4 since July last year. He comes into barrier 3 today and his map looks far cleaner, and it gives him the chance to bounce back a winner. #4 Georgian Sigma is a three-year-old who has been a model of consistency in five starts without winning, placing on four occasions. He should be right in the finish again. #3 Good Luck Happy is a four-year-old who has shown good ability in four starts without a win, including a couple of second-place finishes. He has trialled very well for his return. #5 Ryui Kokoroe has been the victim of wide draws recently and his run looks potentially better from barrier 7 today.

Race 7 – DES VOEUX ROAD CENTRAL HANDICAP
#7 Pegas has not had much go right in five starts since winning his first race six starts back. Conditions look much more favourable today, with barrier 1 and Jerry Chau in the saddle, and that can make a significant difference to his chances. #12 Robot Lucky Star makes his stable debut for Mark Newnham without a trial to go on, but his race form puts him right in this. He remains an untapped four-year-old, having built a good record in limited starts. #4 Together We Value reunites with Purton, which is meaningful after three fast-finishing efforts under Bowman. #11 Blue Illusion appears to enter this in good form if his recent Conghua trial is any guide, having won his heat strongly.

Race 8 – LEIGHTON ROAD HANDICAP
#8 Endurance Express turned in a promising debut when fourth to My Mars at Sha Tin. He worked hard early to find the lead and was still there until about the 100m mark. It was a solid effort, and he has trialled very well since and maps for a good run from barrier 4. #3 Jumbo Treasure will lead and give a good sight. He also brings My Mars form from Sha Tin. #9 Ace Champion is knocking on the door for a win and, even from a wider draw this time, is hard to leave out. #11 Honest Witness had a poor trip last start when chasing a hat-trick of wins. He is better than that and can be given another chance.

Race 9 – KING’S ROAD HANDICAP
#5 Romantic Gladiator is a three-year-old starting to put it all together and arrives off his maiden Hong Kong win, when he had the run of the race from barrier 1 and scored more comfortably than the margin suggests. He draws barrier 1 again in a near-identical race and can win again. #2 Mighty Commander maps sweetly from barrier 2 and finds more suitable conditions after a get-back run into sixth over 1,200m on the all-weather. #1 Fivefortwo chased Romantic Gladiator two starts ago and backed that up with a third. He is consistent, but gets back and gives a head start. #8 Legend Winner dropped into Class 4 last start and won immediately. He loses Purton today but has barrier 3, where his map looks kind and is a horse improving with more racing.

Happy Valley Selections for Wednesday, June 10, 2026

Race 1: #1 Kingly Demeanor, #5 Smart City, #8 All Are Mine, #3 Splendid Force
Race 2: #7 Precision Hope, #5 Noble Pursuit, #1 Legend Winner, #2 Cheaha
Race 3: #10 Silver Spurs, #3 Bullish Nova, #5 King Oberon, #7 Heroic Vanguard
Race 4: #3 Grand Nova, #8 Harmony Fire, #9 Mapogo, #5 Beauty Show
Race 5: #7 Absolute Awakened, #5 Decision Link, #1 General Redwood, #3 Sturdy Ruby
Race 6: #3 Elegant Life, #2 Superb King, #8 Live Wire, #4 Giant Leap
Race 7: #8 Ace War, #1 Fallon, #3 The Auspicious, #10 Audacious Pursuit
Race 8: #8 Tycoon Resources, #5 Szeryng, #4 Greater Bae, #12 Refusetobeenglish
Race 9: #1 Flying Wrote, #6 Storming Dragon, #4 Motor, #2 Lifeline Express

Race 1 – CHEK LAP KOK HANDICAP
#1 Kingly Demeanor finds a winnable race back down in Class 5, where he is a three-time winner from nine starts, and he will also appreciate an inside draw after stepping from barrier 13 in his last two runs. He can lead and prove hard to run down. #5 Smart City maps for a good run just off the speed from barrier 4 and will be more effective back on turf after a failed run on the all-weather last time. #8 All Are Mine was well beaten over 2,200m last start but was unsuited racing on speed and being hard to settle. Back in trip and ridden off the pace should suit his chances better. #3 Splendid Force placed a fast-finishing second at this track and trip two starts ago before stepping to 2,200m and not seeing it out.

Race 2 – KAI TAK HANDICAP
#7 Precision Hope put the writing on the wall last time with a fast-finishing fourth, beaten half a length in a strong race. Barrier 1 sets him up for a sweet run and he looks ready to win. #5 Noble Pursuit is 623 days between wins but is more than capable against this lot, and his last-start fast-finishing fifth was a solid effort. #1 Legend Winner needs to overcome barrier 11, but his first look in Class 4 was a good return to form when placed third, and he is on an upward trajectory. #2 Cheaha steps up to 1,650m, which is the query, but he has performed well in two runs since the class drop with a pair of fourths. Last start, he had a very poor trip but recovered and finished off strongly. He likely sits back from barrier 10 and launches late.

Happy Valley Hong Kong racingRace 3 – STANLEY HANDICAP
#10 Silver Spurs draws widest in barrier 12, but in a race without much early speed on paper, Moreira may be able to come across and find a comfortable position. He did that last start from barrier 14 at Sha Tin, when he led and was only collared late into second. #3 Bullish Nova placed an encouraging third on debut, which is not always easy at Happy Valley, and can take natural improvement from that effort. #5 King Oberon gets Purton in the saddle for the first time and the booking looks timely after some luckless recent runs. #7 Heroic Vanguard ran an encouraging seventh at his first look at Happy Valley, settling back from the outside stall before closing late despite finding traffic. Barrier 3 sets him up for a better run.

Race 4 – TSIM SHA TSUI HANDICAP
#3 Grand Nova seems a better horse at Happy Valley after a couple of recent second-place finishes to handy types, while he has not performed as well down the Sha Tin straight. Barrier 2 gives him every chance in the run. #8 Harmony Fire has been running well but has had to do it from outside gates recently, making barrier 1 key to his chances today. #9 Mapogo has not delivered on his trial form in three runs so far, but the switch to Jerry Chau is an encouraging jockey booking and a gear tweak could prove the key to improvement. #5 Beauty Show went too quickly on pace last time and only faded late into seventh. He is only a three-year-old who will be better in time, but the ability is there.

Race 5 – THE TOURISM CUP (HANDICAP)
#7 Absolute Awakened steps out for David Hayes for the first time and his two trials since the stable switch have been encouraging pieces of work. He looks ready to go first-up. #5 Decision Link won easily last time as the well-backed odds-on favourite, and barrier 3 gives him the right set-up to repeat the dose. #1 General Redwood won smartly from barrier 12 last start, coming from the rear with a big run and showing tactical versatility after leading throughout two runs prior. Barrier 1 should see him more prominent today. #3 Sturdy Ruby can map sweetly from barrier 2 and take a step forward on his close-up eighth when returning to Class 4 last time.

Race 6 – STANLEY HANDICAP
#3 Elegant Life carries nine pounds more for his facile last-start win, where he scored by two and a quarter lengths, and gets the same set-up again from barrier 3, where he will be hardest to hold out. #2 Superb King can make full use of barrier 2 to lead or be handy. He has been knocking on the door for a maiden win, coming off four straight placings, and gets every chance to break through here. #8 Live Wire led and gave a solid sight first-up from barrier 11, only being caught late when beaten under a length into fifth. Barrier 6 second-up should help him save energy early and have more left in the tank late. #4 Giant Leap also gets a better map than last start, when he stepped from barrier 12 at Sha Tin.

Race 7 – VICTORIA HARBOUR HANDICAP
#8 Ace War gets a barrier upgrade today, drawing barrier 2 after stepping from gates 8 and 11 since returning to Class 3, where he has placed both times off an impressive Class 4 win. The inside gate may allow him to settle that little bit closer in the run. #1 Fallon returns to a track and distance where he thrives, with three wins from five attempts, after three runs at Sha Tin since winning here four starts ago. #3 The Auspicious has the form on the board, having beaten Ace War two starts ago before backing it up with another solid effort when second to Liveandletlive. #10 Audacious Pursuit steps into Class 3 for the first time after registering his second career win at start 12 and will relish a 14-pound drop in the weights.

Race 8 – WEST KOWLOON HANDICAP
#8 Tycoon Resources is a smart three-year-old on the up after stringing together back-to-back wins in Class 4 over 1,000m. This is his first Class 3 test, as well as his first attempt at 1,200m, but barrier 4 gives him every chance to post the winning hat-trick. #5 Szeryng returns off a mandatory stand-down after bleeding in his last race in January. He has looked good in his trials for return and can enjoy a good run from barrier 1. #4 Greater Bae needs plenty of luck from barrier 11, but his recent trial in blinkers did not go unnoticed. He will have to be ridden back, but he is one to look for late. #12 Refusetobeenglish is fresh and should map for a good run from barrier 3. Eligible for Class 4, he remains in Class 3 on a light weight, and at this track and distance this season he has been threatening a win.

Race 9 – WEST KOWLOON HANDICAP
#1 Flying Wrote is thriving, with three wins and a further four seconds from 11 starts this season. Barrier 4 should give him every chance to get the run of the race, and he can win again despite carrying top weight. #6 Storming Dragon draws barrier 1, but still needs to make full use of it early. He has been a model of consistency recently, with a win and a third from his last four starts. #4 Motor comes off a win at his second Class 3 start, which is encouraging, and the form has stood up with runner-up Son Pak Fu coming out and winning his next race. Barrier 10 is trickier, but he remains in the mix. #2 Lifeline Express comes to Happy Valley for the first time and brings strong Sha Tin form to the table.

Happy Valley Selections for Wednesday, June 03, 2026

Race 1: #3 Family Fortune, #7 Zetta Force, #5 Happy Buddies, #2 Setanta
Race 2: #9 Chill Master, #2 Always My Folks, #3 Autumn Vibes, #5 Runjeet
Race 3: #1 Young Arrow, #3 Captain Link, #2 Beauty Glory, #7 Forerunner
Race 4: #10 Run Run Timing, #6 Dashing Maurison, #2 Star Mac, #9 Can’t Go Wong
Race 5: #11 Loving Vibes, #7 Brownneedsfurther, #5 Georgian Sigma, #1 Flashing Fighter
Race 6: #5 Vigor Eye, #7 Nebraskan, #1 The Heir, #2 Bright Day
Race 7: #5 Amazing Kid, #1 Happy Index, #10 Ace Champion, #7 King Profit

Race 8: #7 Beauty Alliance, #9 Armor Golden Eagle, #6 Silvery Breeze, #3 Packing Angel
Race 9: #4 Without Compare, #1 Smart Avenue, #2 Mister Dapper, #3 Fivefortwo

Race 1 – MOUNT BUTLER HANDICAP
#3 Family Fortune gets back to his best track and distance, where he has two wins from four attempts, following a big run into fourth from a wide draw over 1,800m at Sha Tin. Barrier 1 is an ideal map upgrade and he looks the one to beat. #7 Zetta Force has barrier 11 to overcome, but his last two runs have been full of merit and have him nearing a win in the grade. #5 Happy Buddies comes off three runs from outside barriers, where he has not had ideal runs in transit, but barrier 5 today can see things take a turn for the better. #2 Setanta will hope for the pace to be on, which looks genuine on paper, and his last-start second shows he is ready to win in the grade.

Race 2 – MOUNT NICHOLSON HANDICAP
#9 Chill Master resumes and has trialled very well for his return under Jerry Chau, who sticks with him on race day after being aboard for his close-up third last time. #2 Always My Folks broke through for his first win last start at this track over the minimum trip, which was his fourth run for Danny Shum. Purton stays aboard, barrier 3 gives them the right set-up and they get the chance to repeat the dose. #3 Autumn Vibes gets another look at his second start for Brett Crawford. He was disappointing in eighth at his first run for the stable but did not have an ideal trip on that occasion, racing too keenly. #5 Runjeet is a stable switcher from David Eustace to Douglas Whyte, his trial was a pass mark and barrier 1 sets him up for a good run.

Hong Kong Happy Valley fireworks Hong Kong Expert Horse Racing Selections and Happy Valley Selections for WednesdayRace 3 – WONG NAI CHUNG GAP HANDICAP
#1 Young Arrow maps for a better run from barrier 6 than he had last time from stall 12, when he still closed strongly into third after a luckless third the start prior. He is ready to win when everything falls into place. #3 Captain Link steps away from barrier 2 and can map ideally, while his last-start sixth was better than it reads after he did not have the best of runs throughout. #2 Beauty Glory raced wide throughout on his return to Class 4, so his fifth-place finish carried merit. From barrier 3 today, he should map far kinder. #7 Forerunner had barrier 2 last start when closing off best behind Nebraskan in a slowly run race, but from barrier 8 today he may not get the same run. Still, he has been knocking on the door.

Race 4 – MIDDLE GAP HANDICAP
#10 Run Run Timing has been running well all season since switching to Ricky Yiu’s stable, winning once and placing six times from nine starts, and now gets Purton in the saddle for the first time from barrier 1, where he will map up front and be hard to beat. #6 Dashing Maurison is only a three-year-old who is hitting his straps, having won his maiden in Class 5 over 1,800m before returning to Class 4 and missing by a nose. #2 Star Mac is a better chance with blinkers back on for his second start for the David Hall stable. #9 Can’t Go Wong is getting back down to a workable rating and arrives off a fast-finishing third in the same race as Dashing Maurison. Barrier 4 sets him up for the right run.

Race 5 – THE CRICKET CLUB VALLEY STAKES (HANDICAP)
#11 Loving Vibes gets the barrier he has been looking for since switching to Mark Newnham’s stable four runs ago, having drawn no lower than 11 in that time. He backs up quickly after a close second here last week and now maps for every chance. #7 Brownneedsfurther had his share of trouble in the run last time when second to Vulcanus. Purton goes on for the first time, barrier 3 gives him every chance and he has been banging on the door all season. #5 Georgian Sigma is only a three-year-old but has done a good job against older horses in his two most recent runs, and first-time blinkers might be the extra aid he needs. #1 Flashing Fighter needs plenty to go right from barrier 12, but Bowman taking over from an apprentice rider catches the eye. He won well on debut, then had excuses second-up.

Race 6 – WONG NAI CHUNG GAP HANDICAP
#5 Vigor Eye won well from barrier 2 two runs ago, then had a poor trip from barrier 7 next start and weakened to last. He has trialled well since and the map upgrade brings him back into the conversation. #7 Nebraskan is thriving, winning his last two races easily with front-running tactics, and he will be hard to peg back if he avoids early pressure. #1 The Heir is set to receive a sweet run from barrier 2 as he chases back-to-back wins. #2 Bright Day is on the seven-day turnaround after making full use of barrier 1 to win easily. Barrier 7 gives him a different set-up today, but he is hard to knock in his current rich vein of form.

Race 7 – SHOUSON HILL HANDICAP
#5 Amazing Kid comes off a series of luckless runs, having covered ground in his last three starts. Barrier 5 can be the map upgrade he has been searching for. #1 Happy Index comes off two runs from outside barriers, most recently stepping away from stall 12 at his first Happy Valley run, where he was used up early before weakening. He is better than that and, with better luck in the run from barrier 9 today, he can atone. #10 Ace Champion is a better chance back at Happy Valley after a fair sixth on the yielding ground at Sha Tin last start. Before that, he raced wide from an outside stall here, but the start prior he was a narrow second from barrier 1, the draw he gets again today. #7 King Profit is in career-best form and can handle the class rise after a big win from barrier 12 in Class 4.

Race 8 – TAI TAM GAP HANDICAP
#7 Beauty Alliance gets conditions more in his favour today as he steps up to 1,800m, where he is a two-time winner from four attempts at the track and distance. He also comes into barrier 2 after drawing 11 last time, which helps in an ultra-competitive Class 2 contest. #9 Armor Golden Eagle is thriving and backs up quickly after posting back-to-back wins over the 1,650m last week. This is a sharp rise in class, but he is in fine form. #6 Silvery Breeze gets barrier 1 and Purton in the saddle, giving him his best chance yet over 1,800m after two unplaced attempts at the distance. #3 Packing Angel won smartly over a few of these over 1,650m last time, his first look at Happy Valley, and he clearly relished the city circuit.

Race 9 – VIOLET HILL HANDICAP
#4 Without Compare reunites with Jerry Chau after the pair won a race of this nature two runs ago from barrier 12, when Chau made a decisive mid-race move that paid off. He arrives second-up off an encouraging first-up second at Sha Tin. #1 Smart Avenue comes to Happy Valley for the first time off a big win, when Purton rode him for the first time, and the race looks likely to suit his pattern. He can go back-to-back. #2 Mister Dapper maps for a much better run today from barrier 3 than he did last start from an outside stall, when he had an apprentice in the saddle and weakened after being used up early. #3 Fivefortwo will relish a truly run race and can get into it late with his swift turn of foot.

Race 2: #7 Rosewood Fleetfoot, #1 Management Folks, #2 Splendid Force, #6 All Are Mine
Race 3: #1 Withallmyfaith, #3 Audacious Pursuit, #10 Prestige Ricky, #6 Mr Cool
Race 4: #5 Bright Day, #3 Smart Fighter, #7 The Perfect Match, #1 Find My Love
Race 5: #2 Armor Golden Eagle, #3 Glittering Legend, #9 All Round Winner, #8 Fantastic Fun
Race 6: #9 Elegant Life, #8 Dan Attack, #1 Crossborderdude, #5 World Hero
Race 7: #9 Lucky McQueen, #11 Jolly Companion, #1 Spirit Of Peace, #2 Happy Shooter
Race 8: #1 Horsepower, #10 Mr Desira, #7 Together We Value, #2 Candlelight Dinner
Race 9: #11 Robot Lucky Star, #9 Honest Witness, #8 Embrace Aberdeen, #1 Son Pak Fu

Race 1 – DORDOGNE HANDICAP
#3 Solar River drops into Class 5 and has trialled well leading into this run. He has a couple of encouraging third-place finishes to his name from four and five starts ago, and that form stands him in good stead to break through today. #6 Gimme Five had a poor trip racing wide throughout at his first Class 5 attempt and was never a factor. That should not be the case today and he can improve on that effort. #10 Exceed The Wish gets a meaningful jockey switch with Zac Purton taking the ride for the first time, while barrier 3 gives him a nice low draw to work with. #8 Winning Diamond is a better chance from a mid-draw after never getting into the race from an outside stall last time. Before that, he ran an encouraging fourth at his first Class 5 attempt.

Race 2 – LOIRE HANDICAP
#7 Rosewood Fleetfoot has been coming on with each run since joining Ricky Yiu’s stable four starts ago and put the writing on the wall last start with a fast-finishing second over 1,800m at Sha Tin. #1 Management Folks is a proven track-and-distance performer and gets Purton back in the saddle, who knows him well, while barrier 1 sets him up for a sweet run. #2 Splendid Force arrives off his best run yet, closing well for second over 1,800m at this track at his first look in Class 5. He is lightly raced with only eight starts and has more room for improvement than others. #6 All Are Mine gets barrier 2 to map favourably, and the last time he raced at this track and trip he was favourite from an outside stall, which worked against him. He still ran well for sixth on that occasion.

Race 3 – RHINE HANDICAP
#1 Withallmyfaith makes a strong case dropping into Class 4 for the first time, with Purton riding him for the first time as well. He is a horse who likes to lead, and from barrier 3 in a race without much speed on paper, he should get every chance in the run. #3 Audacious Pursuit had no luck first-up over 1,600m at Sha Tin, racing wide throughout on a rain-affected track before fading to ninth. He comes to Happy Valley for the first time, where Fownes’ runners perform well, and barrier 4 sets him up for a much better run. #10 Prestige Ricky gets a map upgrade from barrier 2 after jumping from barrier 13 last time on a yielding Sha Tin track and not being beaten far in sixth. #6 Mr Cool gets rewarded for consistency, with five third placings from his last six starts, and can be thereabouts again.

Race 4 – CIRON HANDICAP
#5 Bright Day has been running well against adversity in two starts since going down by half a length in a race of this nature. Two back, he was held up in the concluding stages from barrier 10, while last start at Sha Tin he struck a slowly run race and his fast-finishing fourth carried merit. Barrier 1 gives him every chance to atone today. #3 Smart Fighter beat Bright Day two starts ago, but then drew barrier 10, had a poor trip throughout and was a no-show. From barrier 4 today, his map improves his chances of a rebound. #7 The Perfect Match has not won for a long time but returned to form last start with a good third to Honest Witness. Jerry Chau suits this horse. #1 Find My Love broke through for an overdue and well-deserved first win of the season last start and remains in Class 4.

Race 5 – THE SAUTERNES’S CUP (HANDICAP)
#2 Armor Golden Eagle has made a rapid rise in the ratings since switching to this track and distance three runs ago, when he led all the way to score by a neck at the top of Class 4. He then ran a luckless third back in Class 3 before atoning in style, drawing clear by over three lengths. The 10-point rise is the query off that, but his trial since was full of promise. #3 Glittering Legend arrives off his best run yet in Hong Kong, when second to Sky Vino by a neck on the all-weather. Moreira now takes the ride, which is meaningful. #9 All Round Winner has been a big improver since blinkers were applied seven starts ago and cannot be dismissed off his recent run of success. #8 Fantastic Fun was third to Armor Golden Eagle last start, though well beaten, but from barrier 1 he maps sweetly to be in the finish again.

Race 6 – CIRON HANDICAP
#9 Elegant Life comes off a seventh where he began only fairly, never travelled well throughout, but still hit the line strongly late. Fownes has given him a 49-day freshen, his lead-in trial was sound and, from barrier 3, his map is good enough for him to bounce back to winning form. #8 Dan Attack has been in exceptional form this season, landing two wins from seven starts. He won his trial heat in style for his return, while barrier 1 gives him the perfect map. #1 Crossborderdude has barrier 10 to overcome but brings the right form after back-to-back thirds since switching to this track and distance, while Purton sticking with him is a good sign. #5 World Hero has two wins and a third from his last three starts and had to overcome barrier 12 in his past two runs.

Race 7 – CIRON HANDICAP
#9 Lucky McQueen comes off a series of runs from wide draws, which have not helped his chances. Barrier 6 and Moreira taking the ride are serious upgrades and can see him bounce back to winning ways. #11 Jolly Companion looks set to get a sweet run from barrier 2 and can improve on his last-start sixth, which carried merit from his position in running. He can settle closer today. #1 Spirit Of Peace returns to Class 4, where he is well placed, although barrier 10 is not ideal. He has looked ready to win in recent runs when the race unfolds to suit his get-back, run-on pattern. #2 Happy Shooter is enjoying a good season with a win and three second-place finishes from six starts. This is only his second Happy Valley start, but Danny Shum’s runners perform strongly at the city circuit.

Race 8 – GARONNE HANDICAP
#1 Horsepower arrives off back-to-back seconds and is ready to win another race when the race shape unfolds to suit. The pace looks genuine here, which should allow him to work into it late. #10 Mr Desira has not gone on with it in recent starts after showing promise earlier in the season. He is first-up since mid-March, his trial for return was very good and barrier 2 sets him up for a sweet run. #7 Together We Value has been hitting the line well in two runs since switching to this track and trip. Both efforts were encouraging and he is heading the right way. #2 Candlelight Dinner should run an honest race from barrier 4 up on the pace, having rarely been beaten far and usually around the mark.

Race 9 – SEINE HANDICAP
#11 Robot Lucky Star has trialled well twice since a fair first-up run in mid-April, with both pieces of work showing enough improvement to suggest he can run a race second-up. Barrier 1 sets him up for a great run in transit and he will take some beating. #9 Honest Witness has turned a corner since a change of tactics, leading throughout in both recent runs and winning easily last start by more than four lengths. He may have been flattered by the track that night, however, and faces a fresh test 10 points higher in the ratings. This isn’t a strong Class 3, though. #8 Embrace Aberdeen maps for a better run from barrier 3 today and reuniting with Matthew Poon is a positive. #1 Son Pak Fu will relish a genuine pace and is one to look for late.

Analysis: Happy Valley Selections for Wednesday

Race 1 – COCHRANE HANDICAP
#4 Concorde Star has been holding his form since breaking through four runs ago, following it up with a second from barrier 12 before two seventh placings that came with excuses. Barrier 1 is a map upgrade on those recent wide-gate efforts. #1 Decision Link makes his Class 5 debut and gets Moreira, who is booked for all nine Caspar Fownes runners on the night, and his lead-in trial was very good. Barrier 12 is the obvious knock. #11 Chill Master has been improving and comes off his best effort yet when close-up fourth. Barrier 2 gives him the platform to capitalise after an acceptable trial between runs. #6 Sparkle And Gold is having his third attempt in Class 5, held up late on his first run in the grade, then showing no interest from barrier 12 last time. A mid-draw can help him be more competitive.

Race 2 – D’AGUILAR HANDICAP
#3 Vermilion Tempest has not shown much, but his last-start sixth was a step in the right direction. He was eased back to last from barrier 12 in a race dominated by those on speed, so his run against the race shape had merit, while a kinder draw can allow more positive tactics this time. #1 Beauty Viva broke through at his 20th local start last time and did it in a way that suggests he can repeat it. That was his first try at this track and trip, and he looked to relish the set-up. #12 Vivacious Win remains a lightweight chance, coming off a closing fourth after jumping from barrier 12, while his back-to-back seconds behind Stormi remain strong form references. #10 Yiu Cheung Victory has barrier 2 and looks the one to press on and try to pinch it from the front.

Race 3 – GRAHAM HANDICAP
#1 Superb King gets a much kinder gate in barrier 6 after jumping from 12 over 1200m, when he was strongly backed into favouritism, led until the 100m, then was run down late but stuck on for second. #8 Elegant Life won impressively at this track and trip two starts ago at the top of Class 5, then went to Sha Tin and ran an encouraging third to Gold Patch over 1200m. Back to 1000m at Happy Valley and Moreira taking over are the key angles. #3 Beauty Show is a newcomer for the Frankie Lor stable and his trials have been impressive, most recently winning a heat at this track and distance. Debutants do not often win first-up at Happy Valley, but those who do can be well above average. #10 Get Friendly can improve back in trip with first-time blinkers and barrier 2 gives him the chance to map well.

Hong Kong Happy Valley fireworks Hong Kong Expert Horse Racing Selections and Happy Valley Selections for WednesdayRace 4 – D’AGUILAR HANDICAP
#8 Incanto Star has been freshened since his last-start 10th, a run with excuses after being carried wide. His earlier placings behind Fortune Star and Fivefortwo suggested a win was not far away, and a good lead-in trial, plus barrier 3, sets him up well for the return. #7 Golden Brilliant has improved since the blinkers went on three starts ago, running two close-up fourths before a break, then resuming with a commanding win and he looks capable of going on with it. #1 All Round Winner is another blinkers improver, winning first-time in them four runs ago and performing well since without much luck. This looks an easier assignment to be right in the finish again. #2 Mighty Steed was a little disappointing last time, fading to fifth after sitting second in a moderately run race as favourite, but he is worth another chance with Purton staying aboard.

Race 5 – THE SPORTS CLUB DIAMOND JUBILEE CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP)
#2 Monarch County looks primed to run a big race off two solid lead-in trials, and this is his third start back in Class 4. Barrier 4 sets him up to map ideally. #9 Smart Fighter is better placed back at this track and trip after an unsuitable Sha Tin run, and the Purton booking stands out. A race without obvious speed on paper can see him take control and give a bold sight. #5 Bright Day has had four straight wide draws and continues to slide down the ratings. His Happy Valley record is not convincing, but barrier 1 and Brittany Wong’s 7lb claim give him the chance to be more competitive than recent efforts suggest. #6 Free Pony draws alongside in barrier 2 and looks set for a soft run after flashing home for third to World Hero.

Race 6 – WYNDHAM HANDICAP
#1 Crossborderdude makes his first start at Happy Valley off consistent Sha Tin form, a win and four placings from six runs, and he looks well placed to run a big race. Barrier 4 should see him get a sweet run in transit and give him every chance to bounce back to winning ways. #5 Happy Brethren has shown promise in two Sha Tin starts in strong races and profiles as one who will improve with more racing. Barrier 3 gives him a similar soft map to give himself every chance. #10 Flash Star is the knockout chance at odds. He has drawn awkwardly since winning three runs ago, and a midfield gate today is a clear boost to his prospects off a quiet trial between runs. #2 Sky Cap is a pace angle chasing back-to-back wins for the Caspar Fownes stable with the Moreira factor.

Race 7 – GLENEALY HANDICAP
#2 Sky Vino gets conditions back in his favour, returning to his pet track and distance where he has won twice and placed twice from five attempts. His last-start sixth on the all-weather was better than it reads from barrier 12 and it came off an excusable 2000m run, while barrier 1 gives him every chance to take advantage today. #1 Silvery Breeze draws alongside in barrier 2 and, while he does get back anyway, the inside gate can still allow a smooth trip and have him finishing strongly under the right shape. #6 Super Unicorn switches back to Happy Valley, which is the key change after a get-back, run-on sixth at Sha Tin. #8 Stormi could not lead last time when stepping back into Class 3 after winning three straight in Class 4 when dictating in front, and this race looks more likely to allow him to control things again and improve on his late-fading sixth.

Race 8 – ON LAN HANDICAP
#4 Perfect General returns first-up after a luckless ninth from barrier 11, ridden quietly before a mid-race check cost him. Barrier 4 is a clear map upgrade and his lead-in trial had plenty to like, which keeps him as the one to beat. #5 Exceed The Limit is the knockout at odds second-up after a fair fifth behind Hot Delight at Sha Tin, racing wide and still sticking on. This is an easier race and his trials leading into his debut hinted at ability. #9 Ace Champion comes off his best run yet when stepping up to 1200m, charging into second from midfield to miss by a head. That followed a fast-finishing sixth over 1000m, and he has trialled very well between runs, but barrier 12 makes the task tougher. #10 Spirit Of Peace has had chances to win again without converting, but he keeps running well in defeat and is rarely beaten far.

Race 9 – ON LAN HANDICAP
#3 Red Sea is third-up in Hong Kong off back-to-back thirds in solid Sha Tin races. The switch to Happy Valley suits in a race that lacks early speed, and from barrier 12 he has the chance to come across and take control without burning too much petrol. #4 Mighty Commander resumes after trialling well, and his form prior to the break reads strongly. Barrier 4 gives him the platform to land the right run. #1 Sight Hermoso is in fine form this season, winning three and placing four times from nine starts, and he comes off a track-and-trip win at his first attempt at Happy Valley. He now sits at the top of the weights in Class 3, which is the query, but his ceiling is still not clear. #12 Meowth has been consistent and his last-start third had merit after covering ground wide throughout. He remains a lightweight chance again.Best regards,

Happy Valley Selections for Wednesday, March 25, 2026

Race 1: #7 Perfect Pairing, #2 Management Folks, #9 All Are Mine, #4 Romantic Fantasy
Race 2: #3 Win Method, #1 Ragga Bomb, #8 Precision Hope, #4 Absolute Awakened
Race 3: #10 Sunny Q, #5 The Heir, #6 Bits Superstar, #2 Golden Empire
Race 4: #4 Fortune Star, #1 Glorious Journey, #6 Beauty Viva, #8 Star Elegance
Race 5: #12 Bunta Baby, #3 Candlelight Dinner, #8 Mr Desira, #11 Hey Bros
Race 6: #8 Dan Attack, #4 Genius Baby, #3 King Profit, #1 Hayday
Race 7: #8 Brownneedsfurther, #1 Victor The Rapid, #2 Giant Ballon, #10 California Deeply
Race 8: #7 Without Compare, #1 Beauty Alliance, #6 King Lotus, #4 Fivefortwo
Race 9: #4 Pegas, #5 Amazing Kid, #2 Greater Bae, #1 Symbol Of Strength

Race 1 – TUEN MUN HANDICAP
#7 Perfect Pairing is at his best at this track and trip, already a winner and a three-time placegetter, and his last-start third over 1800m had merit after he charged home from barrier 11. Barrier 3 is a map upgrade and puts him right in the firing line. #2 Management Folks is the class-dropper to note, one win from two at the level, and his 2200m Happy Valley record stands out, with two of his three wins coming over the trip. Barrier 1 and Purton add to the appeal. #9 All Are Mine has been trending the right way since joining the Brett Crawford stable, finishing off strongly into placings at his last two starts, and while barrier 10 likely forces him to settle back, he is one to watch late. #4 Romantic Fantasy maps well from barrier 4 and has been knocking on the door through three recent seconds.

Race 2 – TSUEN WAN HANDICAP
#3 Win Method is well placed to follow up his last-start win at this track and trip, when he won going away by more than a length at his first try at the extended mile. Barrier 2 gives him the chance to hold a similar on-pace spot and the speed map does not look overly pressured. #1 Ragga Bomb shapes as the natural leader and may be able to dictate without having to spend too much. He bolted in by three lengths two starts ago when the race shape played to him, then backed it up with a close-up third. #8 Precision Hope is a four-year-old having his fifth start and his last-start fifth was a step forward after he finished off strongly against the race shape over 1200m at Sha Tin. #4 Absolute Awakened faces a tough map from barrier 12, but he is not without hope after a series of luckless runs.

Race 3 – KWAI CHUNG HANDICAP
#10 Sunny Q makes his first appearance at Happy Valley and brings Sha Tin form that reads well. Barrier 5 is a workable gate, and he has not had much help from draws in recent runs, so this setup already looks kinder. #5 The Heir comes off a third as favourite where he raced on the inside, which did not look the place to be, so there was merit in holding his ground. Barrier 4 gives him another clean platform and, on the map, he looks set to have something to chase down late. #6 Bits Superstar is overdue after four straight placings. Brittany Wong’s 7lb claim and barrier 3 provide a couple of positives in an even race. #2 Golden Empire produced his best run yet for the Brett Crawford stable last time, a neck third, and barrier 1 gives him every chance to repeat or improve.

Race 4 – TSUEN WAN HANDICAP
#4 Fortune Star gets a much kinder map from barrier 5 after jumping from 12 last time, when he finished seventh, beaten two lengths. His run up the inside had merit given it was the wrong part of the track on the night, with those coming down the middle holding the advantage. #1 Glorious Journey draws to get every chance again from an inside barrier after going down by a head into second last start. #6 Beauty Viva heads to Happy Valley for his second attempt and his Sha Tin form reads well in this company. Barrier 1 can be an asset, even though he generally settles back, and he does not look far away despite still being a maiden. #8 Star Elegance was slow away first-up when the blinkers went on, but he charged late into second for his best effort yet.

Race 5 – THE ROTARY CENTENARY CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP)
#12 Bunta Baby has thrived this season, winning twice and placing three other times from six starts, mostly at this track and distance. He is back into Class 3 where his earlier form did not shine, but he returns in much better shape now. #3 Candlelight Dinner draws barrier 1 and maps to get every chance. His last run over 1200m from a wide gate is best forgiven, and he has trialled quietly but nicely since. #8 Mr Desira is a progressive type, two wins from seven, and he has a strong record at the course and distance, including a win over Bunta Baby here three runs ago. He has been freshened since a disappointing 12th, and several trials suggest he is well prepared for his return. #11 Hey Bros draws well for his third Hong Kong start. His debut at this track and trip hinted at ability, his 1200m second-up run did not, and this looks the chance to rebound.

Race 6 – KWAI CHUNG HANDICAP
#8 Dan Attack gets another chance after he pulled up lame last start when beaten just over two lengths into fifth. Plenty of speed on paper can suit his pattern in this race. #4 Genius Baby is the one with the map upgrade, coming into barrier 3 from 10 when he caught the eye late into second. He can be ridden patiently, let the speed sort itself out, then produce the same late punch. #3 King Profit draws barrier 1 and has options from there. His last two Sha Tin runs from barrier 10 were solid behind the likes of Lucky Ranger and Smart Golf, form that reads well for this, and he has since won a trial heat in good style. #1 Hayday draws barrier 2 and should also land a good position, while he is better placed back at this track and distance after a close-up fifth at Sha Tin.

Race 7 – KWAI CHUNG HANDICAP
#8 Brownneedsfurther lines up for his ninth start still chasing a first win, but he looks to have his best chance yet with first-time blinkers added. The headgear seemed to sharpen him up when he won a recent Happy Valley trial in good style, and that is the key lead-in. #1 Victor The Rapid draws well again in barrier 3 and maps for a similar run to last time, when he finished second to Somelovefromabove. #2 Giant Ballon comes off a decisive maiden win where Purton went straight to the front and never gave his rivals a chance. Barrier 11 this time makes it tougher, but the lack of speed on paper can still allow him to press on and take up a handy spot. #10 California Deeply can take improvement second-up after a fair first-up seventh, when he gave away too much of a start in the early stages.

Race 8 – FANLING HANDICAP
#7 Without Compare faces a tough map from barrier 12, but the form is there to land a first win. He was second to Stormy Grove two runs ago, then stuck on well for fourth last time ahead of the likes of Shamus Storm and Beauty Alliance, and an ideal trial between runs suggests he is ready to go again. #1 Beauty Alliance maps for a soft run from barrier 2 and arrives in good form after rebounding from a late-fading seventh in the same race as Without Compare two starts ago to finish second behind Stunning Peach last time. #6 King Lotus is better suited back at Happy Valley after two plain Sha Tin runs, while barrier 1 gives him the chance to map sweetly and bounce back to his earlier form. #4 Fivefortwo has to overcome barrier 11 while chasing back-to-back wins, but his pattern suits being ridden quietly and produced late.

Race 9 – KWU TUNG HANDICAP
#4 Pegas gets a far better set-up second time at Happy Valley after racing wide on pace from barrier 7 last start and still sticking on well for fourth. His win over Aurio three runs ago reads well for this after Aurio came out and won at Happy Valley last week. #5 Amazing Kid is thriving, now four wins from nine starts this season, and the way he is doing it suggests he has more to come. #2 Greater Bae can be forgiven for his last run when trying to back up his prior win, never slotting in but still making late ground into fifth against the race shape. A good trial since is encouraging, and a kinder run looks on offer this time. #1 Symbol Of Strength chases back-to-back wins and maps for a sweet run within striking range from barrier 4.

Race 3: #1 Hayday, #3 Straight To Glory, #7 Ace Power, #12 Gor Gor
Race 4: #1 Fun Elite, #5 Bunta Baby, #6 Beauty Thunder, #8 Happy United
Race 5: #11 Ace War, #5 Ragga Bomb, #12 Setanta, #7 Ka Ying Glory

Race 8: #12 China Win, #4 Liveandletlive, #1 Jumbo Legend, #7 Romantic Thor
Race 9: #10 Greater Bae, #12 My Day My Way, #2 Spicy Gold, #4 Super Joy N Fun

Race 1 – FENWICK HANDICAP
#4 Savvy Twinkle is well placed to break through. He drops into Class 5 for the first time after a luckless fifth when plenty went wrong in running, and the switch to Zac Purton is a notable push. Barrier 4 is ideal over the 1000m and he looks set to get every chance. #2 Spicy Spangle is another class-dropper to keep on side. He comes off an improved trial where he led all the way in his heat and similar catch-me-if-you-can tactics are likely. #5 Concorde Star backed up his eye-catching win two runs back with another sound effort, charging home for second from a wide draw. The drop back to 1000m is the query, but he will be launching late. #1 Island Breezes is knocking on the door after a fast-finishing second over this track and trip, only missing by a nose.

Oaklawn Park has cancelled racing for this entire upcoming weekend

Race 2 – FLEMING HANDICAP
#8 Double Show has been one of the Brett Crawford stable-change success stories, winning once and then running second from three starts for the yard. He has trialled well between runs and barrier 4 can allow him to land in a prime spot. #3 Tsuen Wan Glory has trialled nicely for a Class 5 horse since his last run and barrier 1 gives him the chance to roll forward and take catching. #4 Thunder Blink resumes off a stable switch to Danny Shum and the Zac Purton booking does not go unnoticed. His trial was sound and his last-start effort in his first look at Class 5 was better than it reads after covering ground. #2 Telecom Power gets another chance after a luckless sixth at Sha Tin when he was held up in the straight. The inside draw can give him the sweet run he needs to finish it off.

Happy Valley Hong Kong racingRace 3 – LOCKHART HANDICAP
#1 Hayday is hard to ignore in this grade, with all four wins and as many placings coming in Class 4. Barrier 10 reads poorly, but the last time he saw this grade he also drew 10, went straight to the front, and clung on late. He can try to repeat that effort. #3 Straight To Glory looks capable of winning again. He switched to this track and trip last time off the back of solid Sha Tin runs and, from the inside draw, he enjoyed the right run before proving too strong late to break through. #7 Ace Power keeps Zac Purton after a luckless third when he was denied clear running for much of the straight. #12 Gor Gor has shown marked improvement at the trials since switching to the Brett Crawford stable and that can translate to race day.

Race 4 – THE HONG KONG FOOTBALL CLUB CENTENARY CUP (HANDICAP)
#1 Fun Elite comes here fresh and his trial for the return was a good guide. This is his second look back in Class 4, which is where his better form sits, and it is also his third run for Michael Chang. #5 Bunta Baby has put together a strong season and he finally converted last time for his first Hong Kong win. A nice trial between runs suggests he has held his form and he can win again. #6 Beauty Thunder keeps Zac Purton and the conditions swing back in his favour at this track and trip after being unsuited over 1200m on the all-weather. His second to Bunta Baby two starts ago reads well given the strong tempo. #8 Happy United returns after a bleeding attack and fresh can be the time to catch them. He has trialled well behind Patch Of Theta for return.

Race 5 – JAFFE HANDICAP
#11 Ace War gets the chance to atone after going under as a short-priced favourite last time. The run was not as clean as it looked on paper and Zac Purton sticking with him is a positive. #5 Ragga Bomb went too hard in front last start, turned it into a backmarker’s race, and weakened out to eighth. Hugh Bowman takes over and barrier 3 gives him the chance for a softer trip. #12 Setanta arrives off back-to-back placings and he can land a handy spot from barrier 4, stalking the speed before being produced at the right time. He should be one of the main closers late. #7 Ka Ying Glory is the tricky one to line up, but a better gate and strong trial win give him the chance to lift his form.

Race 6 – LOCKHART HANDICAP
#1 Meowth gets the map he has been waiting for after two runs from barrier 12. He was forced wide when second to Amazing Kid two back, then last start at Sha Tin he was ridden cold. Barrier 1 gives him the chance to turn the tables. #5 Amazing Kid goes for the hat-trick and he draws right alongside in barrier 2. He is thriving and hard to knock. #7 Get Friendly has barrier 10 to contend with, but there is plenty to like. He trialled very well at Happy Valley between runs and Zac Purton taking over for his third start suggests he is ready to produce a good run. #10 Thunder Prince looks better placed back on turf after an all-weather attempt and barrier 3 gives Hugh Bowman a good map. He is still chasing that first win, but his form has been sound since joining the Jamie Richards stable.

Race 7 – SOUTHORN HANDICAP
#3 Romantic Son gets better conditions, back to the sort of set-up he had when winning three runs ago. He struck trouble when fifth the start after that, then last time at Sha Tin the race did not suit, and a good trial between runs suggests he can bounce back. #8 Prestige Always draws barrier 2 and returns to this track and trip where he chased King Miles home for second three runs ago. Two Sha Tin runs since have been sound without much luck. #6 Perfect General made full use of an inside draw last start to lead and win. There can be more pressure this time, but he has shown he does not need to lead to run well. #1 Gracious Express needs some luck from barrier 11, but he has the form to surprise. This is an easier assignment than against the likes of Invincible Ibis.

Race 8 – THE STEWARDS’ CUP
#12 China Win meets a tougher group of seasoned performers, but the set-up gives him a fair chance to chase back-to-back wins. He drew clear for his maiden at start seven at Sha Tin despite barrier 14, and the combination of a kinder draw and 115lb keeps him well in. #4 Liveandletlive can take up the running from barrier 3 and he looks the one to control the tempo. Highland Rahy is the obvious horse who could apply pressure. #1 Jumbo Legend reunites with Hugh Bowman, who partnered his last two wins last season, and the drop back into Class 3 is a plus. #7 Romantic Thor has to overcome the wide gate, but Luke Ferraris is a positive booking. He was used up in a fast-run Sha Tin race last time and this is the chance to get a softer run.

Race 9 – SOUTHORN HANDICAP
#10 Greater Bae comes here third-up locally after a tidy trial win over Red Lion and Raging Blizzard. Zac Purton rode that hit-out and stays on. His first-up ninth at this track and trip was better than it looks after he was held up late, then second-up he had to race wide without cover. #12 My Day My Way looks set to get every chance from barrier 2. His first look at Class 3 was a pass mark when beaten half a length by Perfect General and the set-up again looks kind. #2 Spicy Gold did not fire last start, but barrier 1 changes the complexion. #4 Super Joy N Fun has been doing it tough from barrier 12 in his last two runs and he can appreciate landing in a mid-draw. Michael Chang has him ticking over nicely and the switch back to Happy Valley is a positive.

Happy Valley Selections for Wednesday

Race 1 – MURRAY HANDICAP
#2 Perfect Pairing returns on the six-day turnaround for the John Size stable, which is running hot, and he drops back to Class 5, which is key to his chances. Although the shorter trip is the query, the set-up looks ideal. #3 Storm Runner keeps doing plenty right without breaking through, posting four placings from five runs this season to take his record to seven placings from 15 starts and still no win. Eventually, everything will fall into place for him to land a blow. #7 Beauty Missile has not disgraced himself since the switch to the Brett Crawford stable and he can get a kinder run here, which lifts his chances on a third look at Class 5. #5 Super Sicario is up against it from the wide draw, but if he lands in a conducive spot he is not without a chance on his third run in the cellar grade.

Happy Valley Hong Kong racingRace 2 – JACKSON HANDICAP
#3 Run Run Smart can find the top easily from barrier 1 under Purton and make his own luck. Those tactics worked three runs back and he was only collared late into third last time when trying the same again. He looks hard to run down. #6 Loving Vibes should not be far off the speed either from barrier 2 and his two runs in blinkers since they went on have hinted another win is not far away. #7 Lakeshore Hero scored two starts ago, then last time had the widest stall to overcome, was eased back to find cover, and still closed strongly late into fifth. #9 Amazing Kid comes off his first win at the eighth attempt and, with the penny seeming to have dropped, he can go on with it, especially with barrier 4 providing another good map set-up.

Race 3 – CLUB HANDICAP
#12 Ace War keeps threatening a win, three placings from five for the term, all at this track and trip. He is close and with Purton now in the saddle, he is ready to strike. #2 The Azure is due some luck and, if things fall into place here, he looks ready to win. He was last seen six lengths away in ninth, but a mid-race check and then being badly held up late never gave him a true shot. #4 Prestige Ricky also comes through a luckless run, settling well back from barrier 12 before finishing held up over the concluding stages, which has been the tale of his last three. #10 Golden Brilliant is a bit of a throw at the stumps, unplaced in five starts and largely unwanted in the betting. However, last start was a big improvement when wearing blinkers for the first time, and Caspar Fownes stepping him up in trip looks a fair move.

Race 4 – JACKSON HANDICAP
#10 Crystal Powerful gets the obvious boost of barrier 1, which should allow him to park in the right spot after working in overdrive from barrier 11 last time. He has yet to feature in four runs this term, yet this looks his best set-up so far. #7 Ace Power comes into this off a fast-finishing third after stepping away from barrier 10, so he should enjoy the kinder draw here, as well as gaining Zac Purton in the saddle. #1 Fatal Blow has again drawn barrier 10 after striking it in both runs since returning to Class 4, and he has not been beaten far despite tough trips. The map once again looks tricky, but he is capable. #2 Fortune Whiskey bounced back to form when returning to his preferred track and trip last time and he can run to his rating again, which he tends to do.

Race 5 – THE HONG KONG CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP)
#10 Quick Contribution had a poor trip last start, yet still checked in fourth. That effort was better than it reads at face value and, after being costly at the head of the market in his last two, he still warrants another chance. #5 Bull Attitude returns to Happy Valley off a closing eighth over 1400m at Sha Tin and the rise in trip is a plus. He went down a neck into second here three runs ago before tactics went awry next time when ridden too close to the speed. #9 Superb Guy gets the gun run from barrier 1 in a race that does not look to have much speed, which gives him an edge and a chance to build on an encouraging last-start third. #2 Nearly Fine can bounce back at any time in this grade, and the return to 1650m may be what he has been looking for.

Race 6 – JACKSON HANDICAP
#8 Straight To Glory looks well suited on his first look at Happy Valley, arriving off a series of good runs in stronger Sha Tin races, and those placings behind Bulb General and Robot Lucky Star are formlines worth noting here. #2 Flying Wrote is the in-form runner, a win and two seconds from three runs this season, and his map looks ideal from barrier 4. #3 Tactical Command draws nicely in barrier 2 on his second look back in Class 4, the same gate he won from five runs ago, and a similar set-up gives him every chance. #4 Victor The Rapid can strike at any time in this class, as shown two runs back when third on the return, while last start he was simply too far back after a wide draw. A kinder barrier and an in-form Maxime Guyon staying aboard add to his cause.

Race 7 – CHATER HANDICAP
#9 Love Together is better than his last-start sixth. He was wiped out at the start and never got into the race early, before a late surge and only beaten three lengths. He gets another look here, especially from barrier 2. #2 Horsepower is better suited back at Happy Valley after two Sha Tin runs that did not play to his strengths. He is quirky, but the track and trip are ideal and Purton back on is a tick. #5 Eternal Fortune had plenty go wrong last time, covering extra ground and still sticking on for fifth. A cleaner run from barrier 3 can see him right in the finish. #1 Harmony N Blessed has been flat in stronger races, but this is a softer set-up and he has the right form for it, having beaten Eternal Fortune the last time he was in this grade.

Race 8 – CONNAUGHT HANDICAP
#10 Perfect General did not disgrace himself at his first try in Class 3. He drew wide, settled quieter than in his previous win, before closing strongly into fourth. Barrier 2 is the map upgrade that can put him right on the doorstep. #12 My Day My Way resumed off a lengthy layoff from barrier 12 and the rider kept him out of trouble, but he rattled home into eighth and that finish did not go unnoticed. He has since trialled well. #9 Refusetobeenglish has improved across four runs this season and his last-start ninth was better than it looks after he never saw daylight at a key stage late. Barrier 1 gives him every chance and lift. #2 Spicy Gold rarely runs a bad race and he keeps finding the line strongly, and he is a safe inclusion in a race like this for multiples.

Race 9 – DES VOEUX HANDICAP
#3 King Lotus comes off back-to-back seconds in two tries at this trip since stepping up from 1200m. He did plenty of work from a wide gate last time, beaten under a length, and barrier 6 this time ensures he has less early work to do. #7 Corleone puts his unbeaten record for the season on the line rising in class, which he should handle if he keeps trending the right way. He gets the right sort of run from barrier 4 to measure up. #2 Loch Tay surprised at big odds second-up and, while he did not back it up last time, he clipped heels in the run and also raced too wide. A quiet trial between runs reads well and he can improve. #9 Romantic Laos has not had much go his way this season, but conditions suit here and barrier 1 can finally give him the run he needs to turn in his best effort yet.

Happy Valley Selections for Wednesday

Race 1 – FORTH ROAD BRIDGE HANDICAP
#5 Legend Star backs up quickly from an unlucky ninth that was better than the result suggests. He was winding up nicely before being stopped in his tracks at the 150m, which completely ended his run. With blinkers back on for the turnaround, he can rebound. #1 Always My Folks should take full advantage of barrier 1 to settle in a handy spot. He only faded very late into fourth last start, beaten half a length, and the drop in class sets him up to run well again. #9 Double Bingo moves to a wider draw as he chases consecutive wins, but his recent form is hard to fault and he remains a live chance if he finds a back to follow. #4 Glory Cloud will welcome the return to this course and distance after a fair all-weather run where he was caught wide from the 700m. He is well placed in Class 5 now to land a win.

Race 2 – QUEENSFERRY BRIDGE HANDICAP
#1 Star Brose gains a map upgrade stepping into barrier 4 after jumping from 12 last start. He was dragged back to last on that occasion yet still closed hard into fourth, and being able to settle much closer here gives him every opportunity to convert. #7 Panda Legend has been holding his form well since dropping into Class 5, placing in three of four and never beaten far. His last-start second from a wide draw was full of merit and a midfield gate presents a kinder scenario. #8 Draco is edging toward a breakthrough after a string of encouraging runs, and while he has had chances, this is only his second start for Brett Crawford. With Purton staying on, he gets another genuine chance. #3 Thunder Blink drops in grade and should find this level more suitable. His recent form has been plain, but the downgrade gives him the platform to build on.

Happy Valley Hong Kong racingRace 3 – GLENFINNAN VIADUCT HANDICAP
#3 Francis Meynell has yet to show much in Hong Kong with only one placing from eight starts, but he has now had time to acclimatise, slides into Class 4, and his recent trials have been quietly encouraging. This looks like a race for him to show improvement. #2 Fun Elite faces a tricky draw, but with little speed on paper he may still be able to slide across. He drops back into Class 4 and his first-up run was better than it reads in a strongly-run race. #6 Bits Superstar showed he is ready to win again when leading most of the way second-up before being collared late. Purton taking over is an upgrade and he maps to control the speed again. #10 Golden Luck is capable off this mark and from barrier 2 should settle close to the pace which gives him a chance to go one better.

Race 4 – BRIG O’ DOON HANDICAP
#5 New Power had no favours from barrier 12 last start, drifting back before closing off well into sixth. He now draws barrier 3, which allows him to settle closer to his usual pattern and gives his winning prospects a lift. #1 Fatal Blow will need some early luck, but Luke Ferraris should be able to push forward and hold a handy position. A drop in grade and a return to his proven course and trip make him an improver back on turf. #10 Roman Crown is still searching for his first local win but is edging closer. His second on his first spin around the city circuit was full of merit and suggests the track may be the key to unlocking him. #4 Everstar draws far better in barrier 4 after a closing fourth last start. He is third-up in Class 4 and his lone win came fourth-up, which fits his profile nicely.

Race 5 – THE ST ANDREW’S CHALLENGE QUAICH (HANDICAP)
#2 Supreme Agility finally broke through at start 24 and has been an honest operator all season. He stays in Class 4 after that win which keeps him well placed, and there is no reason he cannot repeat the dose. #3 Hakka Radiance shares a similar story after taking 25 starts and a big ratings slide to land his first win, but he has since flourished with three straight victories. He is thriving, though barrier 11 makes his map more interesting. #9 Ocean Impact gets the J-Mac lift and his first attempt at this course and trip was encouraging, closing into third behind Hakka Radiance. He is trending the right way. #6 Ping Hai Comet shaped as though he had more to offer last season before vet excuses in his final run. He resumes off quiet trials and barrier 1 should give him a kind map.

Race 6 – CLYDE ARC HANDICAP
#7 Yee Cheong Spirit reunites with James McDonald who was aboard his sole win last season. The timing looks right to get back on him again, coming off back-to-back placings and landing barrier 2 which gives him a perfect map. #1 Robot Lucky Star is a four-year-old on the rise, but the widest draw gives him a task. If Purton produces something special he can still win, but he will need that type of ride. #9 Dan Attack showed another dimension last start by kicking up, controlling the race and winning well, his second victory from three runs this term. He does not have to lead again with more pace engaged here, which may actually suit him better. #6 Rising Phoenix is one at odds to consider. Nothing went right when 10th last start, but he is lightly raced, still improving, and capable of better with a cleaner run.

Race 7 – KYLESKU BRIDGE HANDICAP
#5 Amazing Gaze is an untapped four-year-old on his fourth start and is ready to win. His first-up second was full of promise, and his latest fourth was luckless after being held up at a crucial stage when only half a length from the winner. Purton takes over from barrier 4 which strengthens his case. #8 Fortune Star gets blinkers first time and has been sound in two runs back this term. Most recently he drifted back from barrier 10 and closed strongly into fourth. He has been favourite in both runs, but should be a greater price this time. #2 Allcash also gets the shades on and is a major player. He had vet issues in his first-up run, has been freshened, and trialled well since. #6 Take Action is building toward a win and his last start fourth had merit considering the interference he copped at the 1000m.

Race 8 – GLEN OGLE VIADUCT HANDICAP
#4 Storming Dragon backs up quickly and is due some luck since rising to the extended mile. Both runs are better than they read, as last week he struck traffic late and was eased down. A soft draw and James McDonald are two key factors that can help him rebound. #6 Keen Molly was a well-backed favourite when sixth last start but endured a tough trip, so it’s worth forgiving that effort and giving him another chance. #3 A Americ Te Specso is suited dropping back to 1650m after doing his usual late work over 1800m for a close fifth. He finds it hard to win off this mark but remains honest. #2 The Boom Box is intriguing on his first spin around the city circuit. Still lightly raced with just eight starts, barrier 4 can hand him the soft trip he needs to launch late as he has in his three wins.

Race 9 – CULLODEN BRIDGE HANDICAP
#4 Akashvani gets the ideal set-up to go back-to-back. Barrier 1 ensures he maps perfectly, his trial between runs was strong, and he still has the potential to rise in the ratings. #7 Prestige Always will appreciate what looks a genuinely run race after closing nicely into third second-up behind Regal Gem. #5 King Miles has improved since the blinkers went on, winning first-up and then finishing a game second after trying to make all. They may ride him quieter here which suits given he has a sharp turn of foot. #6 Charming Babe steps back into Class 3 where his record is plain, but he’s a more polished horse this season and comes into this off a dominant Class 4 win. He deserves a chance to measure up now.
