AGOS Founder Rich Nilsen hit the Preakness Stakes with winner Exaggerator, who scored by 3 1/2 lengths over the wet going and paid $7.20 to win.  He missed the trifecta on the bob at the wire.

Nilsen’s spot play on the undercard was also an easy winner in race 5.   His other spot play was scratched but the second choice, Takeover Target, also won.

Here was the Preakness analysis on the winner:

#5 EXAGGERATOR (3/1) – How many times do you have to lose to another horse to prove that you simply aren’t as good as that rival?  Sometimes things aren’t as simple as that, however, especially in horse racing.  Nyquist is better than Exaggerator, there is no denying that, but a wet track could be the factor that turns the tables.

I loved Exaggerator in the G1 Santa Anita Derby and the wet track was a big part of the reason.  The Keith Desormeaux charge did not disappoint, unleashing an incredible move on the far turn to draw off to decisive victory.  It was arguably the most impressive win of any Derby prep this season.

The son of Curlin appears that he will be getting nearly the identical set up that he got in the Santa Anita Derby in Saturday’s Preakness – a hot pace and a sloppy track.  Will the result be the same?

Jockey Kent Desormeaux got his start in Maryland, dominating the Pimlico track in the 90s.  He would love nothing more than to win for his brother and take down the second jewel of the Triple Crown, a race he has won twice before (Big Brown, Real Quiet).
