PARX veteran named AGameofskill.com Claimer of the Week

Claimer of the Week at AGameofSkill.comCantona, a 5 year old gelding, took the third race at PARX Saturday afternoon in thrilling fashion to become the agameofskill.com Claimer of the Week. Cantona broke last and stayed in that position for the first quarter-mile of the six furlong, $16,000 claiming contest. With a half-mile remaining the son of Benchmark began to pick off opponents while traveling up the rail. He was still 4 lengths behind at the furlong marker but closed furiously to run down the pacesetter and win by a length. Ridden by Stewart Elliot, Cantona covered the six furlongs in 1:10.93 over a muddy track in his first race after being claimed by trainer Shane Learn. Cantona paid $22.80 to his backers. The victory was Cantona’s sixth victory, all coming at PARX. In his career, Cantona has finished in the money 19 times from 36 races and earned over $182,000.
