Hawthorne

LUNA BAY (Race 6@HAW, October 17, 2013, 6 furlongs, MSW) The favorite broke out badly at the start a considerable distance from the field before being brought back near her competitors. She then stalked near the back and began a gradual rally while going wide in the turn and entering the stretch 5 wide. She stuck to the task and eventually went past all competitors with much trouble to easily going away. Her margin of victory could have been considerably more.

Penn National

MO WORK FOR TIM (Race 2@PEN, October 16, 2013, 1 1/16 miles, Claiming $5,000) The second choice stumbled very badly at the start with her head striking the track surface, an event that caused her to be left behind immediately. She was hustled to reach contention and then was several wide throughout the entire first turn. She ran well considering the circumstances and finished a well beaten fourth.

IN HIGH REGARDS (Race 3@PEN, October 16, 2013, 6 furlongs, Claiming $7,500) The third choice was bounced around at the start before settling in the second flight down the backstretch. He made progress in the turn and was just behind leaders moving into the stretch and rallied along side a foe to his outside. Both were nearly even with leader when the outside horse came in and squeezed IN HIGH REGARDS nearing the 1/16th marker forcing him to take sharply and drop back. The stewards disqualified the foe and IN HIGH REGARDS was moved to second, even though the action may have cost him the victory.

Santa Anita

SASSY SUANCES (Race 1@SA, October 17, 2013, 6 furlongs, Claiming $12,500) Co-Favorite broke while squeezed, hopped up ini air and was immediately behind. She was rushed hard to reach contention and got near the leaders entering the turn but the early trauma seemed to take its toll and she threw in the towel.

Woodbine

TEVEZ (Race 2@WO, October 19, 2013, 6 furlongs, Claiming $16,000) Older gelding was tardy leaving the gate and immediately had much to do. Caught the field before the turn and tried going into the inside but was always in a waiting mode. He could not go wide and remained inside until deep stretch when a hole opened and he came on through with a decisive rally to win by a half length. A better trip and he could have won by several lengths.
