Please note that horses spotlighted in Off the Charts Trip Notes are never an automatic bet back, but rather runners to give a serious look at given the trips and the trouble spotted by our expert handicappers at AGameofSkill.com. Horses below listed in track name order.
At Aqueduct
GEE LINZ (Race 6 at AQU, Jan. 31, Opt1x, 6f). This three year old filly was blocked badly from the 1/8th pole to the finish, losing all chance to getting her picture taken. Daughter of Frost Giant excels at 6 furlongs and has a winning attitude with 3 wins from 8 lifetime starts.
FUNNY MONEY (Race 5 at AQU, Feb. 1, Mdspwt, 6f). The Chad Brown first time starter was full of run turning for home but had no where to go, stuck down on the inside behind the eventual gate to wire winner. The second choice in the field continued on well but never got clear and thus had no chance to threaten the winner. Can win back in similar spot.
At Gulfstream Park
LUCKY EMPRESS (Race 10 at GP, Feb. 6, mdcl $35,000, 1 mile turf). Making her first start on the grass in her third lifetime start, this filly ran a huge race. She was stopped turning for home and had to re-rally. Took the lead in mid-stretch and just got nailed at the wire by a first time starter from the Wesley Ward barn. This was also her first race with blinkers on for trainer Jane Cibelli. She is certainly one to look at next time in a similar spot.
