Please note that horses spotlighted in Off the Charts Trip Notes are never an automatic bet back, but rather runners to give a serious look at given the trips and the trouble spotted by our expert handicappers at AGameofSkill.com. Horses below listed in track name order.
At Aqueduct
SAGE DORO (Race 8 at AQU, Nov. 30, Opt. 1x, 1 mile). Despite the long layoff this filly was bet down to favoritism in her return for Richard Dutrow. She stumbled very badly at the start, going to her nose, and then raced 3-4 wide on the backstretch into the far turn. She never gave up but was well beaten. This is one that needs the lead. Her lone win was wire to wire around two turns so look for her back in a spot like that.
LITTLE ROCKET (Race 4 at AQU, NY-mdspwt, 5 1/2 furlongs). This Yes It’s True 2yo filly was bet down like a good thing for her debut and she did not disappoint. What was impressive is that she overcame a tough trip from the rail post, as she was blocked on the inside going into the far turn. When she finally got clear at the top of the lane, she drew off like a filly with a future. Should be tough in future state-bred events.
At Laurel Park
EMBRACEABLE WIN (Race 8 at LRL, Dec. 5, 6f dirt). This filly, off at odds of 9/2, was sitting on a win but she was given a “zig-zag” ride en route to a sneaky great third place finish. She was not only blocked at the top of the lane but steadied hard. Ducked to the inside at the 1/8th pole, altered course again down the stretch, losing critical momentum that was the difference at the wire. Wins back in the same spot.
