Off the Charts Trip Notes – December 24, 2012

Off the Charts Trip Notes (December 24, 2012) spotlights horses throughout the country who encountered some type of significant or meaningful trouble in their most recent start or just gave an extremely impressive performance. Please note that horses spotlighted in Off the Charts Trip Notes are never an automatic bet back, but rather runners to give a serious look at given the trips and the trouble spotted by our expert handicappers at AGameofSkill.com.  Horses below listed in track name order.

Gulfstream Park

EL PADRINO (Race 4 at GP, Dec. 19, 1 mile, opt. cl). The 1-5 favorite suffered a tough trip as he was forced 4 wide all the way around the far turn, a death wish at Gulfstream Park, but continued on gamely in the stretch. He could not catch the front-running winner who saved ground throughout. This was a winning performance from a colt that had been off 228 days since his run in the Kentucky Derby.

LIKE A DIVA (Race 5 at GP, Dec. 13, mdspwt, 2yo, 6f). First time starter from low profile barn got off to an awful start, spotting the field and the eventual gate-to-wire winner several lengths.  Daughter of Dehere made a sustained run and was absolutely flying in the final furlong. One to watch at a price next time.

At Laurel

WHERE’S DOMINIC (Race 6 at LRL, Dec. 13, Opt 1x, 5.5 f). Fresh off an impressive debut win in October, this guy was made the deserving favorite. Unfortunately for his supporters, he got hung very wide into and around the far turn. Never gave up but continued on well for a sneaky good third place finish. Should move forward off this 2nd career race for Trombetta barn.
