Northern Kentucky runner becomes AGameofskill.com Claimer of the Week

Claimer of the Week at AGameofSkill.comMac Dehere captured the fifth race at Turfway Park Friday night and was named the agameofskill.com Claimer of the Week. In his second race back from a layoff, the 6 year old raced in mid-pack along the rail for the first half mile before moving forward. Guided beautifully by rider Ben Creed the gelding hugged the rail while making the winning move in the turn. When the field arrived at the top of the stretch Mac Dehere was near the leader and then took control shortly after straightening for home. The son of Dehere stuck to his task and won by about a length in the $5,000 claiming event. Final running time for the mile on Turfway’s synthetic surface was 1:42.01. Owned and trained by Milton Gaede the winner paid $6.40 to his supporters. Mac Dehere has now won 8 races and finished in the money 15 times out of 28 career outings. His recent win escalated his lifetime earnings to more than $140,000.
