Claimer of the Week: Ohio runner takes honors

Namron stalked the early pace from mid-pack, moved out at the top of the lane and went on to win the sixth race at Thistledown by more than a length last Saturday. Namron has been named the Claimer of the Week. The six year old defeated a field of $4,000 claimers and returned $5.60 to his backers. In attaining his seventh career victory, the chestnut gelding stopped the clock at 1:05.44 for the 5 ½ furlong heat over a fast track. Ridden by Walter De La Cruz, the son of Western Playboy has finished in the money 13 times (top three finishers) from 34 outings. Trained by Nabu Morales and owned by Morlona Racing, the Florida bred has earned approximately $139,000 in his career.
