Prohibition stalked the early leader, moved up to take the lead in the far turn and held an advantage to the wire in winning the first race at Santa Anita Saturday afternoon. Prohibition has been named the Claimer of the Week after his victory over $40,000 claimers. The son of Lawyer Ron covered the 8 ½ furlongs over a fast Arcadia strip in 1:45.87. His backers were paid $6.20 after his seventh lifetime win became official. Ridden by Flavien Prat, the chestnut gelding has finished in the money (top three finishers) 11 times from 26 career races. Owned and trained by Vann Belvoir, the 6 year old has now accumulated more than $225,000 in lifetime earnings.
