Mare splashes to victory in Florida

Double Berg stalked the early leaders between foes and, despite being squeezed at the top of the stretch, drove along the rail to an impressive victory in the fifth race at Gulfstream Friday afternoon. Double Berg has been named the agameofskill.com Claimer of the Week. The 7 year old defeated a field of $16,000 claimers on a sloppy track (originally scheduled for the turf) and covered the one mile distance in 1:38.57. Ridden by Joshua Navarro, Double Berg returned a whopping $31.20 to her backers once her ninth career victory became official. Trained by Chloe Bradley, the bay mare is owned by the Dawghouse Stable. The daughter of Scat Daddy has now finished in the money (top three finishers) in 19 of 44 career races and has lifetime earnings exceeding $222,000.
