Last Year’s Write-Up on TOP SELECTION CREATOR

CREATOR lost his best chance when he broke from an inside post in the field of 20 and encountered a rough trip in the Kentucky Derby.  Prior to that he was ultra impressive, sweeping by the field in the G1 Arkansas Derby.  If you want to see an incredible maiden win, just go back and what this colt’s Feb. 27 score at Oaklawn, and you’ll again see the type of late kick this guy possesses.  Trainer Steve Asmussen has the son of Tapit working well for this rebound race, including a blowout 4f drill over the Belmont training track. Bred to run all day, Creator will drop back under new rider Irad Ortiz, Jr. and come rolling late at a big price.

Testimonial from the 2017 Sheet:

“Hey Rich.. Thanks for putting me on Tapwrit !! I liked him and Gormley and Irish War Cry.

I think  #9 meantime had enough speed to compromise Irish War Cry. Have feeling that if he wasn’t in the race, Irish War Cry might have been loose on the lead ,and had enough to win.  I had Tapwrit straight & the exacta.  Tapwrit & Gormley both had “dream trips”, But Gormley didnt want to go that far… Hey !! let’s give some love to Disco Partner for his new North  American record for 6 panels. I had him straight  and also knocked down the exacta of 2-4 for $42.00… Hope you had a good day & made some cash !!

Thanks Again,
Wayne M.

“Rich: nice job Travers Day! Thanks to Arrogate, you gave me a good day. How in the world did you land on him? I suspect you’re doing some kind of voodoo pace analysis. If you ever decide to give lessons or a seminar, let me know.” ~ Kelley S.

Breeders Cup Remember last year’s Breeders’ Cup?

Remember Day At The Spa and Work All Week?  Nilsen crushed the Breeders’ Cup last year for AGameofSkill.com readers.

This guide was published after the post position draw on Wednesday.

About the Author

Rich Nilsen has worked the past 23 years in the equine industry, including managing a horse racing stable for 10 years.  During his long tenure at Brisnet.com and TwinSpires.com, Nilsen managed the successful Players’ Pool syndicate, which pooled funds from the account wagering members to go after large Pick-6 carryovers. The Players’ Pool produced a significant profit for the members over several years. One of the best hits was when the Players’ Pool took down half of the Pick-6 pool on Kentucky Derby Day 2007, with a gross return of over $500,000.

Nilsen is one of the top participants in the history of the $2 Million National Handicapping Championship (NHC), having qualified 12 times. He was the first player to finish in the top 10 at the NHC twice.  He has cashed four times in the event.

Nilsen Crushes it with Breeders’ Cup Analysis

Breeders CupFour of the five Spot Plays given out on the Breeders’ Cup Analysis by AGameofSkill founder Rich Nilsen won and won big.  The highlight was the top selection Work All Week, who upset the Breeders’ Cup Sprint to the tune of $40.20 and keyed the trifecta play given out on the sheet which paid a whopping $1,064.70 (for every $1 increment).

Nilsen’s first Spot Play of the day was lone speed play Dayathespa, who cruised to an easy win in the Filly & Mare Turf and paid a generous $13.00 to Win and $6.60 to Place.

The next Spot Play was the recommended Win wager on Bobby’s Kitten in the Turf Sprint.  The cutback runner for trainer Chad Brown returned $16.40.

Third choice Texas Red romped in the Juvenile and paid $29.80, but no Spot Play wager was given out for this race.

The third Spot Play from Nilsen was the $64.80 exacta with Main Sequence over Flintshire in the Breeders’ Cup Turf.

In the very next race WORK ALL WEEK took the Sprint, paying $40.20 and $18.40, hitting the big trifecta, and completing an $1,814.70 Pick-3 for those who used Nilsen’s top 3 selections.

In only two races did Nilsen not list the winner – the nearly-impossible-to-pick Take Charge Brandi and Karakontie.

FILLY & MARE TURF ANALYSIS

PACE SCENARIO: Dayatthespa is the clear lone speed in this 1 1/4 mile race.  The daughter of City Zip stretches out off a 1 mile win at Keeneland and she will take this field as far as she can under crafty rider Javier Castellano.  She won a grade one easily at 9 furlongs, finishing the last 1/8th in a sizzling :11.2.  The euro invader offering the best value is Fiesolana.

Spot Play? Play # 4 Dayatthespa to Win and Place.

Selections:

1st- # 4 Dayatthespa (8/1)

2nd- # 6 Fiesolana (8/1)

3rd- # 3 Dank (5/2)

4th- #10 Stephanie’s Kitten (3/1)

SPRINT ANALYSIS

PACE SCENARIO: A fast pace is ensured in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint with Fast Anna and Work All Week the speed of the speed.  The older horse, Work All Week, will sit right off the flank off the sophomore colt to his inside before taking over.  Undefeated on fast dirt in 7 attempts, Work All Week doesn’t have to carry his racetrack with him and the win machine could be this good for Midwest Thoroughbreds.

Spot Play? Play #13 Work All Week to Win and Place. Play a trifecta partwheel #5, 13 with #5, 13 with ALL.  Trifecta partwheel #5, 13 with ALL with #5, 13.

Selections:

1st- #13 Work All Week (10/1)

2nd- # 5 Private Zone (6/1)

3rd- # 8 Palace (6/1)

4th- # 6 Rich Tapestry (5/1)

5th – #10 Big Macher (12/1)

“In this brief but concise report, I provide selections for each and every Breeders’ Cup race, as well as pace and race scenario analysis which is critical for predicting the outcomes of these events.

Spot Plays are my best bets and key wagering horses for the big weekend. Picking your spots is key to profiting on the races, especially when it comes to the Breeders’ Cup. The opportunities are plentiful but you improve your chances by selecting key spot plays and focusing most of your bets on those plays.

Set aside a budget for these two days and be sure to have plenty of ammunition for the bigger of the two days, Saturday. Best of luck!”
